Hay, pals!
We've been all witness to constant rule changing during the few years!
Well I think that's destroying F1 as it is!
I think that the guys in FIA should sit down and seriosly discuss the rules
and make them "stable"!I'm sick and tired getting used to new rules
all the time!!
unfortunately, i think they are leaving out the most important ingredients when it comes to making rule changes...(technology!!!)
in my opinion, the rule changes should include consiration for change and advance in technology(F1 is pinnacle of motorsports afterall), safety and economics.
it has been documented that the rule changes often sacrifice advances in technology for the sake of safety (too much speed! too much downforce!!)
and they are trying to bring more money into the sports by making the series more exciting...
I agree with most of the rules since we want safety for our drivers foremost; however, dumbing down some of the technology seems stupid since lot of those technology you can find on a road car.
its just another knee jerk decision by the idiots in the suits. whats funny was the 2003 season wasn't all that bad but they decided to change rules once again! 2003 seemed to be a step in the right direction but the fia is just being so stupid!
True, Michael may have won again, but if anybody can say "Oh 2003 was a boring season" they where either not watching it or lying. The 2003 season was fantastic, and although Schumi still won it wos a win that he fully deserved and he had to really fight for.
Also here's something to think about. The FIA are scared of loosing teams due to finacial difficulties, so they are tying to lower costs. Well hang on a moment, if they are worried about finicial trouble ahead WHY ARE THEY BANNING TABACCO SPONSORSHIP?! Most team's major sponsors are tabacco compaies! Think of Jordan and B&H, if Jordan still had B&H they could be climbing the ladder again but insted they have lost a vast amount of sponsorship money becuase the FIA think that people are going to start smoking because a fast car drives around on sundays with tabacco logos on it...I don't think so, nobody is THAT easily influenced. If they where why do they allow alcohol sponsorship, cos if people smoke because F1 cars have tabacco sponsors surely people will start getting drunk becuase of F1 cars too? LOL. I'm sorry but its a joke. The FIA simply aren't thinking things through properly.

They're not banning tobaco sponsorship...they're banning tobaco publicity! According to what everyone is saying Marlboro and West are going to stay in F1 after the publicity ban...but only in colour no logo on the car only the tradicional colour.
About publicity it has been proven to work or else major companies woudn't spend the amout the money they spend on publicity! If it didn't work what would be the point of giving money to someone to use their logo? A sponsor usually onle sponsors a team after doing a market study to see if they will get back as much or more money then the money they spent....no one gives away money, specially millions...it doesn't grow on trees!
Psicological tests have proven that between 65% and 72% of people tend to buy a product of a company that they've seen in a publicity add....another 20% will by the product just for curiosity (one time buy) and the rest of people don't care what is publicised!

PS - It's not the FIA who is banning the tabaco publicity it's the European Union. And in case the FIA doesn't accept it they might loose their rights in Europe and loose all championship organization rights. It isn't as easy at it looks....the FIA had nothing to do with it....they even tried to convince the EU to give F1 an extra F1 before tobaco publicity was banned. All other sports had to ban publicity untill the end of 2003.
Yeah i read after posting that Malboro where going to sponsor Ferrari by using the logo they currently use but by replacing the word "Marlboro" with "Smoking Kills" or something like that (It is still only rumours from what I gathered in the article)
