First low DF wing for the season - Will be interesting to see if the WOJ endplates work properly with them. Expect flowviz in P1!

this year that part of the wing isn't in cf anymore, trying to avoid punctures

Don't know why it is different but it has been for a while.

Do you got a reference for that statement? I got a reference when it wasn't painted, so that one was illegal?

And this one illegal as well?

Maybe they are not cf anymore as they are 3d printed

They are not the structural parts of the wing by deflectors so the 3d printed part has the adequate strength. Also lets them trial many different configurations on the basic wing.

Something like a modular design

So they 3D print the part at the track, then send it back to the factory to have the part finished and sanded and glued and painted when the wing is assembled?

Not very modular.

They often enough repair or trial Fit Parts on Track. So i'm pretty sure they can finish and glue the Parts to the Car in the Garage.

I am not technical but someone explained nicely that the basic floor is actualy a good thing, because it means they can seal the diffuser whitout the squirts and thus create more efficient DF.
He said squirts help to seal the difusor but at the expense of drag.

This is what they do as far as I understand it:

To keep the maximum effectiveness of the diffuser they keep the tire squirt managed away at the edge of the diffuser. I can imagine however that this can be accomplished by structures further upstream as well. The slot basically feed air from above the floor (diffuser) to below the floor (diffuser) so I imagine them reducing the effectiveness in some way. It must be a tradeof. Maybe MCL have a different solution, they're also the only team to have that strange flipup in front of the rear tire.

Looking at that Picture of the new RW Endplates got me thinking if that's McLarens version of a bendy RW. The only thing connecting the upper with the lower Part of the Endplates is a pretty narrow piece of CF whereas others have the whole lenght of the Endplates to take the Load. And that Piece is conviniently on the foremost position of the Endplate which would allow the RW to get shallower the faster the Car goes.

Also, pretty massive Aero rig this morning.
