The other day I was thinking if Merc are trying to replicate what Mclaren did in the past with its funnel fin.
Mclaren used to have these chimneys:

Does anyone have a link to a higher res image? I question the authenticity of the vents, because from the small picture, it looks like they were drawn on with a sharpie!f1316 wrote: ↑27 Apr 2017, 17:05The irony being it looks like a BMW!ScrewCaptain27 wrote: ↑27 Apr 2017, 14:50New nose vents:

Looks like it has dimension to me, highlight, deep dark core, all signs point to actual holes.dans79 wrote: ↑27 Apr 2017, 17:20Does anyone have a link to a higher res image? I believe Ferrari were the first to use chimneys.WaikeCU wrote: ↑25 Apr 2017, 12:20The other day I was thinking if Merc are trying to replicate what Mclaren did in the past with its funnel fin.

Well, I don't call them chimney's really, because the opening is facing backwards. I thought the purpose on the Ferrari was to direct as much exhaust gasses towards that rear wing/diffuser, but on the Mclaren the chimney's have the opening on top and those are located on the end of sidepods.wuzak wrote: ↑28 Apr 2017, 07:40I believe Ferrari were the first to use chimneys.WaikeCU wrote: ↑25 Apr 2017, 12:20The other day I was thinking if Merc are trying to replicate what Mclaren did in the past with its funnel fin.

I don't think I've seen Mercedes with a monkey seat this year.PlatinumZealot wrote: ↑28 Apr 2017, 04:24The monkey holds tighlty on to those pylons not to get blown away by the exhaust. That's why they are knurled.
