McLaren MCL32 Honda

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

McLaren pushing seriously with their developements, from this perspective they are defnitly still a class A Team.
The class a teams turned up at testing with a car this developed.

Mclaren turned up with a blank canvas that they are slowly filling in. Metaphorically Mclaren and Honda are doing their homework on the bus.

The car seemed stagnant for a few races so it's good to see they're still alive on the development front.

Really????? There have been big steps.

2 new floors and diffusers in the last 2 races is stagnant???

Is not it a lot of aerodynamic load for baku? It was the same in Canada.. it almost feels like they're trying to make Honda look worse. :?:

Who knows maybe their car makes monster downforce and isn't very draggy at the same time flattering Honda

Lots of wing doesn't seem like a good idea here considering in Baku all the high speed turns will likely be flat out, although some drivers may choose not to do so.

Let's wait for tomorrow before we make any judgements. Last year they brought a low downforce rear wing.

If they don't bring one then maybe they feel like they are wasting their time trying to be competitive at tracks where they know they won't score points, and they are rather channeling resources into normal development.

They usually build up with default config. Then remove and replace whatever new comes in. It's probably some kind of verification to do it that way.

Mclaren don't have a low down force setup, they haven't used 1 in the last three seasons.

We know that previously this was because they had tyre problems which needed heavy downforce loads to overcome.... Looks like they still haven't fixed it.

Good Picture. It's not just the FW, the RW looks quite shallow and there is no T-Wing.
