Can we please put our purses away and stop hitting eachother? We should really stop digging up old skeletons.

I want to see if Ferrari qualify within five tenths of Mercedes, if they can't that burning oil thinggie is going to look like a large loomer. Short track but a good amount of the lap is at full throttle so it should be a relatively fair test location.

I don't think it's anything to do with burning oil, I think it's simply that Merc have managed to get their car down to the weight limit.

The longest straight is non-DRS, it'll be interesting for sure. I'm seeing low to mid 1:05 for pole.

I think it's more down to them finally getting a handle on the tires.

Ferrari likes the ultrasoft so I am surprised to see that they have only choosen 7.

Which was not forbidden. Neither by regulation nor by an interpretation of the rules. That's how rules and laws develop.
Neither is slowing down to give the lead car time to get enough of a gap to the SC during restarts, but that didn't seem to make a difference to a small percentage of folks did it? But I bet you won't see a strongly worded clarification of that rule from the FiA because unlike parking 3/4 of your car outside the grid box, only a guy trying to cheat through a loop hole would do it, most other drivers have enough sense and dignity not do so. So you're either breaking a rule or you're not. It can't be both.
I didn't speak of someone slowing down. That was you. I don't really care who does something unless it's against the rules.

And for no one doing the thing, Vettel did with the startbox: I'm pretty sure that no one did it because no ohe thought of it before. But I cannot look in the head of an fanboy or hater.
Yes Vettel is very good at studying the rules and playing in the limit of those, if he can keep a clean head ofc

I remember this one https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/comme ... _favorite/

In which he overtook two cars during a safety car before the pit lane entry which is legal even tho you can't overtake them on track. I remember watching this and being like #-o WTF is he doing???

They probably will use more SS on FP and in the end of FP3 all teams will roughly have the same allocation I suppose

Could this mean that they will use more SS on the race day? . Because if you want to collect data with this tyre, it should mean that you are going to use it on the race.

Maybe, or perhaps it's because that tyre can handle more laps and they can do more testing on FP of other parameters non grip related. Same way as mercedes did the 2016 test almost using only the medium so they could pound more laps. Maybe they will introduce a new ICE and want a sturdier tyre for FP so they can test it a bit, then do the normal setup test and simulations on US and leave the normal allocation for Q and Race
