I don't see them going under 1:04 this weekend. This is probably one of the warmest weekends so far, rivaling the Bahrain weekend during the day. Maybe the US overheats towards the end of the lap, the SS after a few laps, and the Softs are finally in their working range.
Verstappen did his best lap on a 10 lap on the SS tires I believe, but he was backing off in between runs. SS tire is probably fine, not many people ran ultras for long so we'll have to wait for a bit for a clearer picture.

Under 1.04 is questionable, but then again, track evolution, softer rubber and all that, engines to the max, they just might break that time.

Verstappen using big chunks of the curbing there. He really doesn't hold back at all does he?

Radio five live reported from the Ferrari pit "Ferrari haven't broken any rules, but have had to remove oil auxillary lines from the second oil tank to the PU". We might get more information on sky or ch4 if that is the case.

Hamilton's 1:05.975 soft lap 12 of the soft run
Bottas 1:06.345 super soft start of a twelve lap run

The Redbull seems to carry more speed through the corners, especially the fast ones

Verstappen's time was done quite a bit later than Hamilton (and on a softer tire). I'd argue partly tire, maybe fuel and track evolution and potential factors to not look too far into the respective cornering speeds of both cars.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

Risk of rain for FPS2 is 80% (Via Ferrari Twitter)

I would love to see some lap times on the vet on this track.

Yeah, I agree, but it's always good to see VES's level of commitment on those fast corners :D

Man, these cars are so violently quick through the second half of the lap. Very impressive.

The lap times on heavy fuel are as fast as the cars were qualifying with in 2015! :wtf:

The Mercedes is earlier on the power at exit and is faster by the time they leave the kerbs. Might just be a driving style difference or the Mercedes has better traction. Either way, it brings them lap time.

Unsurprisingly the Mercedes appears as the fastest car on the PU dependant section.

Feel like there should be more discussion around this. Is this confirmation the Ferrari were in fact burning oil? We've not really had any confirmation that Mercedes have been doing it, and no change in their Q3 pace either that might suggest it.

Specially when you add in the rumors of Lorenzo Sassi's firing. I get the feeling this is something that will quietly be swept under the rug.
