AUSTRALIAN FRONT WING
Image

Double profiled front wing
1.Deep spoon shape , the major amount of front downforce is produced by the central part of the wing . This makes the wing less influenced by side wings ( when the car turns ) .
2. Τhe main profile now features a dual curve towards its outer extremities to increase the quantity of air passing under and close to the endplates . As a result the amount of pressure generated in this area is increased .
3. Vertical pillars are attached to the main wing profile
4. Venturi Channel
5. The endplates featured bending upwards side winglets
6.The endplates have an S shape. They also bend at their rear part inwards in order to guide airflow towards the inner profile of the front wheels
7.Vertical fin under the wing
8.The small vertical fins increase pressure in the profiles' outermost sections. Their second role is to direct the airflow towards the barge boards and sidepod inlets
9.The extra wing is connected to the tip of the nose cone. The attachment point to the nose cone is really thick and curvy .
10.The horizontal triangular fin at the rear top of the endplates improves airflow management close to the wheels .

A comparison between the front wing used in Australia and Winter testing follows
Image
As far as i can see there is not any significant difference to be found between them . Seems that the front wing evolution is "frozen" form launch to Australia

There will be a bridge wing by Turkey if the Scuderia is behind in the constructors championship.

Watch and see!

There were more reports suggesting they will switch to that radical nose for Bahrain or Spain. We're gonna have to wait and see.

Amazing how little difference, if any, there is between 5 different tracks!
No good turn goes unpunished.

Ferrari are back to using that thing...whatever it is.

The vent by the 'acer' logo.

Still incredible that NOBODY knows what the hell that thing is.

Also, never noticed that huge strake going along the shadow plate, well floor ! Quite long lol!

last year a as thinking how f1 teams know how mutch air is needed to cool the engine ,then it hit me they cant ,it depends of a number of things and some time there is to mutch air going to the radiators. And drag increses ,by this pic a remenber that a think at that time that f1 teams can put some type off device to change the radiator angles to alow to pass the not needed air and put a hole on the back of the sidepots.

that air helps to create downforce and because is release from the sidepots reduces the drag because the radiactores get only the air they need.

But this type of thing is not legal because of the "moving aerodinamicys" rules like ferrari wing or renault dampers.

But i dont know maybe they let the exceding air pass creating some downforce and reducing the drag for the wrost possible cenario for exemple 200 km/h

For exemple on the fast corners the ar entering the radiator is going out on that hole and at that speed creates some pressure creating downforce maybe thats why ferrari has a supercar on fast corners.

Not 100% sure, but if I remember correctly, that is part of the side crash structure that is required by the FIA safety regulations to protect the driver or something.....

or maybe im thinking of the one more infront..:dunno:

That "thing" we are referring to can't be part of the crash structure because if it was it would be an integral part of the car and yet sometimes it's there, and sometimes it's not. At least so far.

rcadima and Bob Brown - Welcome to the forum and contribution to discussion of the Ferrari F2008 development, rcadima, thanks for that picture of the scoop, hadn't seen it from that angle before, it looks like a very primitive structure compared to the sculptured intakes we usually see today, in F1, Bob Brown, the first time I noticed a moveable cover for an intake scoop was on a WW11 fighter, I think it was the P51 Mustang, anyway, there's a history for movable covers and fairings of that sort pioneered on planes, I wonder if a small wing, or a gill, in front of the F2008 scoop, could be "tuned" with specific airfoil profiles, to have the effect of a cover, at higher speeds, to reduce drag, I can't say I have ever seen such a thing, but it's a mid Monday morning idea :D

Is it possible that Ferrari have split the engine exhaust? Is there any benefit to that?

I wondered this too back when it was first noticed...I wondered if the REAL exhaust or half of it was exiting here and being used to affect the rear wing/diffuser. Either that or just latent heat being extracted over a surface which can benefit from it.

perhaps its a vent to allow air to help cool the engine during the hotter races???

If that was the case, would'nt just adding an extra gill or two be more efficiant, and if not at least more tested and proven with predictable results?

All I know, is that we haven't the foggiest idea, of what that thing may be?

It's no different then last time....sensor? vent? exhaust?

I've been waiting to find out what that thing is ever since it first appeard in testing; hoping that maybe it wouold become more clear as the season started, but here we are after the race and it's still a mystery.

REAR WING - AUSTRALIA
Image
1.The wing profile is upwardly-curved towards the endplates . Because of this shape the greater amount of downforce is produced by the central part of the wing .
2. Semi circular gills to reduce turbulence . There were too series of them , one at the upper part of the endplates and the other at the bottom
3.The front upper part of the endplates is bending inwards and the outer part outwards . So a kind of S shaped endplate is formed
4.There are two pillars connecting the wing to the chassis

REAR WING - MALAYSIA
