Mercedes AMG F1 W08 EQ Power +

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The chassis crash structures are allowed to be in the floor and not affixed to the chassis? They (Merc/Ferrari) are getting creative with these structures this year.

They will be fixed into the chassis when the floor is fitted. you can disconnect them to remove the floor

There are upper and lower structures, these are the lower ones

What is this? Any guess?

I am guessing some sort of optical alignment tool. There seem to be some photoelectric devices on the second picture, but they could also be compressed air connectors, I am not sure.

Thanks Powy, nice video. A little bit lightweight, as we might expect as the details are difficult for anyone outside the teams, but a nice overview. Interesting about Mercedes' bargeboards creating lots of little vortices that then roll together to create a bigger one somewhere else. Ferrari's sidepod design is briefly touched upon and the idea that it allows cleaner flow to the radiators is interesting.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

I don't think so. The rear wing is the only different part I've spotted. The rest of the car seems similar to previous races.

Why is there nothing new on the Merc? Does this mean that they're struggling with correlation and can't seem to match the wind tunnel vs track performance numbers, or are they out of ideas?

I would expect correlation issues would have meant they would be running different parts...
