Was wondering how many cars going to end their race at the first corner first lap?

Of all the tracks Spa probably has the most notorious history of total carnage on the first lap, so you might be onto something there.

I would say that depends a lot on who qualifies where to be honest.

But some drivers seem to be gaining a reputation.

"Mad Max" (don't get me wrong, I love the bloke, but also love the nick name 😂), I reckon he's due a good quali and race, but we all know he can be very aggressive on the first lap.
I'm hoping he doesn't get too silly at the start, but it's just his let's say, youthful exuberance that has me a bit concerned.

The other one I'm worried about is Kvyat.
If he doesn't tone it down a bit there could be trouble.
Even his Boss has come out and said he needs to be careful or the really Big Bosses at Red Bull might become involved.
There was even talk of a financial penalty if he has trouble with his team mate again 😯

I'm sure there are others who need a good race but might get a bit too excited straight up, these are the ones I will be watching though.

This should be Mercedes territory, the track suits their package and Ferrari´s update won´t come until Monza. I didnt remember that RB was so strong last year so they should strong this time as well. Anyway Ferrari should be ahead of them.

My favourite track though last year´s race haven´t been as good as those mighty races of the 90s and before. I miss a true wet race in Spa because it could be truly epic.

My bet:

Pole:

1. Hamilton
2. Raikkonen
3. Bottas
4. Vettel
5. Ricciardo
6. Verstappen
7. Perez
8. Ocon
9. Hulkenberg
10. Massa.

Race:

1. Hamlton
2. Vettel
3. Raikkonen
4. Verstappen
5. Stroll
6. Perez
7. Ocon
8. Hulkenberg
9. Alonso
10. Sainz

Bottas and Ricciardo collide, just for fun.

Total chaos under the rain

1. Verstappen
2. Hulkenberg
3. Raikkonen
4. Ricciardo
5. Alonso.
6. Vettel
7. Hamilton
8. Occon
9. Sainz
10. Stroll
Interesting bet,

mine his :

Pole:

1. Hamilton
2. Bottas
3. Vettel
4. Raikkonen
5. Verstappen
6. Ricciardo
7. Perez
8. Hulkenberg
9. Ocon
10. Sainz

Race:

1. Hamilton
2. Vettel
3. Bottas
4. Ricardo
5. Verstappen
6. Ocon
7. Perez
8. Hulkenberg
9. Massa
10. Sainz

I think he messed it up nearly every time he was "aggressive" this season...
Silverstone was a perfect example for the contrary. He stayed away from the Ferraris and did not squeeze them, did not break late into not existing gaps and suddenly was in front of Vettel just by driving a normal line.

I think in time he'll realise the old adage about not being able to win at the first corner but definitely being able to lose it all (or indeed, cause others' races to be lost).

It's not that he's necessarily doing anything 'wrong' most of the time (I don't think he should have been punished vs. ricciardo either) but it's all a bit imprudent.

it will rain, that is a given.
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

I mean, yes, but will it rain in Spa, during the race? Historically: maybe.
