Is it just me or McLaren hasn't been that aggressive on updates lately?

Yep I think I read somewhere that they've shifted the focus to 2018.
They'll only bring updates this year if considered relevant to their 2018 cars

Well considering the rules for 2018 are mostly the same, I cannot imagine that parts for 2018 wouldn't be useful this year.

But this is all Honda's fault, of course  .

Why invest in a car which needs to be pushed to and from the starting line 9 out of 10 times?

Yes it is, they´ve switched to Renault PU due to Honda poor perfomance and reliability, so now they need to redesign the car to accomodate the new PU, redesign sidepods, evaluate aero influence of these changes on the RW wich probably will have an influence on the whole aero, etc.

Even the aero philosophy may change, as the new PU hopefully will be noticeably more powerful and that also has an impact on the aero/drag you can use/suffer

Because an updated car would be able to have a downtuned engine and keep the same problem.

Point being; McLaren had put little to no effort in, yet give Honda all the blame. Honda isn't responsible for aero development, and now McLaren has missed a whole season of aero development.

Of course, however the general philosophy doesn't change. McLaren now has missed a whole season of development, and that is some real life testing that they will never get back.
It is the first season of a new ruleset, which makes this the most important season in this ruleset as the philosophy will be set in this season, a time they have now missed

Sorry but.... WHAT???

Did you watch Melbourne car and did you watch last one? You can´t see any development in this half season?
