Well... very early, but indication is the Merc is working everyone else go home. Good thing weather could be a factor.

What is worrying is that it seems to be working right out the box too. That's before they start to fine tune their setup.

I think that answers the question on the new Merc package working or not. The car looks planted in FP1, that's worrisome.

Oh that's just rude from Ferrari, as fast on Softs as Merc on Super softs...
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Vettel got everything there was to get from the car there, it was a handful and a half. Now we know the real gap.

Sainz has binned it. Red flag.

Looked like he got greedy on the curb.

What do you mean? the car looked glued to the track.

Also audibly de-rating at points.

We've got different standards I guess.

EDIT: anyway, looked a bit better on this post RF run with the SS.

Based on what I've seen on P1, I would say Hamilton and Vettel will be very close. Slight advantage to Vettel. However, if we compare what happened in Malasia to here, Merc looked much better, so back to usual I guess.

Also I think we can now see that the McLaren Vs RedBull fight when they are both running Renaults will be fun.

McLaren with a Merc engine couldn't compete with redbull. It is unlikely they would now. At the very least they will need one year.
