It signifies how majestic that W08 really is. Best chassis, best aero, best reliability. Those traits wins you championships. Add to that the best driver behind the wheel. Ferrari being outdeveloped.

Just because the Mercedes performs well in Japan, doesn't mean it performs well everywhere. We saw the same level of domination in the other circuit that's the same style of high speed sweeper curves - Silverstone.

It's not that the Mercedes is the best car across the board, it's simply that it's phenomenal at high speed sweeper corners, and this circuit has a lot of them.

One thing I think is (slightly) interesting: can ‘t remember the last time I’ve seen so many overtakes in Suzuka; you’d think the opposite with these cars and, whilst it’s partly cars out of position , usually much harder to get past - DRS or no.

True. Since Spanish GP/Canada Mercedes has become faster, clearly for me, but with some infortunate weekend + Merc inconsistency Ferrari stay alive throughout the year

Redbull (Max) look uncharacteristically strong on the soft tire... gap is closing slowly and i doubt they are going to stop again. Maybe just RB running more aggressive vs Hamilton conserving tires to not run into problems later?

You are forgetting about Hamilton's tyre degradation. All he needs to do is keep Hamilton out of operating temperature window. Then he might stand a chance.
