I'm a student ( ESTACA, Paris) and I made this front wing juste for fun with SOLIDWORKS ( Next year, I will learn to use Catia V5, Fluent, ICEM and Gambit )

For the moment, I've just a front wing, but I'm building a nose cone and a rear wing. Little by little, I will build a full car.

I can give you my front wing but I made it with SOLIDWORKS. Is it a problem?

Hi all,

I've probably mentioned it before but I am really desperate to try and get the model of my new E-Racer tested however not having a wind tunnel or a powerful enough computer nor the money to afford either I would be eternally grateful if somebody could run it for me. The biggest problem is i don't know whether anybody would be able to run the file, I created it in Pro/Desktop (watered down Pro/Engineer) but i can convert it into other files. I can't tell you what they are this moment however as I'm not actually on my Laptop.

Alright, not a problem. I think I can run it for you during my spare time. I hope the model is not very complex since setting it up for meshing takes a lot of time. If you delete the irrelvant bits and send me the outer shell as IGES surfaces I can then run it for you.

Some info on how you would like it to be run would be great, such as velocity, ride heights etc.

The Ride height will be around 10mm as I plan to put a rubber skirt on the vehicle and velocity wise i'd be interested in anything between about 20-45mph if there is anything else you would need to know just PM me and i'll get back to you asap.

Where should I upload it for you and what sort of format do you want it in? It is just the body work, simplified for a quick CFD run. Perhaps you can add wings on it your self.. Front and rear.

Nah, we only race in the UK, we haven't actually campaigned the two shell cars for some time now unfortunately, we've been too busy in F24, which is farrr more fun.

Although the satisfaction of beating uni's was always incredible our record is 2904mpg!!

Seems like it is all about drag reduction in your case..

The picture you have uploaded as your Avator has a lot of potential for even less drag. Once I see your new surface shell, I will propose some modifications to reduce the drag further..

Where abouts do you guys run in the UK and what sort of wind conditions do you see there? If it is very windy, we can take cross winds into account as well.

Three of the tracks I have been racing regularly are old airfields, Bedford Autodrome (ex aerodrome), Dunsfold Park (RAF Dunsfold), Goodwood (RAF Westhampnet.)

So from time to time it can get really quite windy I hope to upgrade this body throughout the season as I've been donated a lot of fibreglass. The current shape I'm working on isn't ideal in a cross wind but this is due to time restrictions, but its a darn sight better than the previous ones.

I think the frontal area is a full 20% smaller. If you have a look on my website you'll see a few pictures of the first car i built solo(Ruby/Swoosh.) It was just an evolution of the one in my avatar, but I learned alot last year and figuired out that the shape wasn't that much of a positive evolution.
