Lewis Hamilton has won the United States Grand Prix, despite losing first position at the start. The Mercedes driver quickly rectified that situation and went on to dominate the race ahead of the battling that went on behind him. Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen both joined him on the podium for Ferrari.
Well on that picture it looked clear cut but on the on board, you can tell Max reacts to Kimi. On some level, these cars are traveling at very high speed. The gap looks big but considering the speed they are doing inside a corner, its rather small. A small swerve and they crash.
Yeah I agree, kimi moved and Max reacted. But after it all happened, Max should realise it was too much. And will accept the penalty. As everyone should do after seeing the cut. It wasa fully deserved penalty , And im.not blaming Max for trying it. It was worth a go. And he didnt lose anything for trying
Sorry, watch the full replay from Max’s on board. Before he leaves the track, he reacts to Kimis swerve and was already partly alongside. One could say Kimi was crowding Max off the track. Not to mention there were other very similar incidents like between Bottas and Ricciardo. While one could argue black/white, i do think the consistency leaves much to be desired.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II #Team44 supporter
Do you agree that he had room so the pass would have probably worked anyway?
I think he could have squeezed through with 2 wheels on the track but he didn't. So its a penalty all day long.
True it is. As is every damn time a car leaves the track looking at the rules. Doesn't happen that way though because the stewards decide that isn't the case. Until it suits.
We either stop drivers leaving the track or we don't. Simple.

If he could have made it without going off track, how has he gained an advantage by going off track? If he hasn't gained an advantage, why penalise?
Why did he go off then? All im sayong is , there WAS room for 2 wheels on the track. Kimi moved over and Max had to jump, but it turns out Kimi left enough room. Factb is he still cut the corner and passed a car.

I am amazed by the people arguing the penalty. You cannot cut a corner and overtake.

If someone else did what Max did, please show me. If not, lets move on please.

2) going off track because of avoiding a collision after being crowded and make the move stick in the process.
Max did number 2. Who would have been at fault if max had kept his nose there?

Please also consider that his car doesn't have infinite grip. He would have needed to make a tighter radius by staying on track. Instead he changed direction earlier and sort off straight-lined the corner, allowing him to keep his foot in it. He effectively made a longer, larger radius corner by cutting.
Putting aside that shocking decision for a moment, Red Bull & Max showed some serious race pace today, if he'd been on the 2nd or 3rd row I reckon he'd have pushed Lewis very close for the win.
Great race spoiled by some stupid stewards. No consistency, T9 and T19 not policed all weekend and now they police T17?
Im pissed off.
Way to ruin F1 in the USA again. Do they in the FIA know that the Americans like people to be heroes?
As for that bull at the start of the race, great for the USA, but ill take a National Anthem and a Fly Past by the Red Arrows or Italian Air Force with either nations colours being sprayed over the crowd. Even what they do at Abu Dhabi with a Ethiad A380 pleases me. Im a simple man that way, if it aint broke...????....
