I could tell from the way Vettel took the left to go up the hill, he second guessed the grip level for turn 1, goes to show what a difference a little change in mentality can do. Especially in such a short circuit as this, I love this track, it's almost like a public highway, the road has it's own character, there aren't any straights, the track is really composed of not really curves and not really straights. The apex shifts a few cm depending on the conditions, and there's multiple lines possible, overtaking isn't impossible, but can only be done after a big mistake from the leading car.

Vettel had the pole in his hands but his second try has been worse. Anyway, a good battle between both.

Tomorrow with warmer temperatures Ferrari should perform slightly better.

Max is definitely establishing himself as the lead driver within RBR but he does have the newer spec Renault engine installed in the back though and Ricciardo does not.

in RICs defence, he is getting the engine penalty, would you push to the limit knowing you start 10 places down, and a midst that lot, does that 1 place matter? he will start on the soft btw, the only one actually, so things might be interesting near the end, if renault doesnt fail again...

Can Mercedes change everything on Hamilton's car (all pu internals - battery packs, icu, turbo, control elec. etc.), plus gearbox ? I mean... they surely can't go lower than last. But are they actually allowed to (don't know the rule exactly)?

It cant be down to the circuit not being good for their power deficit as Mclaren are ahead of Force India and Renault.

Yes they can, those spec 4 engines have been going since Spa and Lewis probably had it turned to 11 in the last race after turn 1 and the burnouts at the end wouldn't have helped the gearbox either, so why not have a fresh car in beast mode for just 2 races

Sure they can, Vettel did in Malaysia.

If they do they will have to comply to the oil directive though.
