I hope the teams do some innovative with it and make it look better than it does so far, although im not sure there is a lot that could be done with it.

Innovative? They will certainly put all sorts of garish aero surfaces and protrusions on it, especially as there's no T-wing next season.

It would be interesting if there were an F1 'winter' season of sorts. Perhaps a 4 race rookie Championship where all drivers must be non-F1 drivers under the age of 25 (or similar).

I agree. That would be perfect, except that an age of 25 might be too old. Maybe 4 rookies driving the cars of all 4 top teams in a round robin championship of 4 races? (Each rookie drives each car once in this championship)

I guess the top 4 teams will not allow their cars to be compared this way though.

If you want a winter series, then surely thats not the way to go. The winter time is a very VERY busy time for all teams, they dont have spare time to faff about with a car for a mini series.

What we all need to see is 10-20 cars off the shelf (F2 car equivalent) and the drivers all competing in equal cars. Or what would really "turns me on" is the top 3 drivers from the top 5 single seater series across the world all competing in a winter series in a special made single seater car that no one has driven before, maybe a 850HP V10 with basic bodywork.

The circuits used would be places where its hot and dry, and would be medium length races, with practice and qualy sessions.

With 15 drivers already selected the FIA can add up 5 other drivers as wild card picks. So my drivers would be as followed

If people want winter racing it's summer in the southern hemisphere. There's no lack of good tracks south of the equator, Kyalami, Eastern Creek, Phillips Island, Interlagos, Potrero de los Funes in San Luis Argentina, etc.

Anyway back on topic, McLaren will surprise people with their draggy speed, late braking from being so slow, and superior tire management. You think Abu Dhabi is an engine track because of those two cartoon straights, however only the first straight has any real distance to it, the two straights are actually shorter than the straight in Canada, and the following straight after the wall of champions. Unlike Canada, Abu Dhabi has a lot of long radius medium speed corners, and low speed chicanes, downforce and chassis performance matter far more than a fast engine for the vast majority of the lap. It's a long lap but it offers plenty of opportunity for harvesting so that shouldn't be a problem either.

Hamilton has always gone well here, I expect if Ferrari are close, and the last sector I imagine will suit them, that he will make the difference to take pole and the win.

I don't think there is one full sector that suits Ferrari. There are bits everywhere where they might be faster, but other than that, it is a power and downforce circuit, where W08 is quite strong.

Here are some of the slow corners on the circuit. These are places where traction becomes critical, which is where Ferrari excels.

Fight for pole is going to be even between the two teams. Depends on which driver excels in that moment.

That last sector is tailor made for Ferrari imo. If Merc is going to get pole, they are going to have to beat them handily in S1 and S2. Redbull and Ferrari will dominate S3 imo.

It will be the same as all the other tracks this year, If Merc gets the tires in the correct window they will take pole and comfortably control the race. If they don't they will fall back.

I think the race at the front will be 1-2 merc. 3-4 ferrari 5-6 red bull. Renault and toro rosso will fight like animals for the championshippoints

According to the latest F1 technical regulations for 2018 (published 21 September 2017), the shark fin and the T-wing are gone. Any changes to the regulations require unanimous approval.

However, sadly there is still scope for mini T-Wings... See here:
