Formula 1's popularity in Southeast Asia was currently growing rapidly since 1990s. Filipino Jovy Marcelo was the F1 prospect back in 1991 but due to funding problems with his Filipino company sponsors, Jovy Marcelo chose CART in 1992. If only Jovy Marcelo raced in F1 in 1991 or 1992, he would be the first Southeast Asian driver since Thai Prince Bira and before Malaysian Alex Yoong.
I love how that picture shows a absolute 'normal bloke', with a smile of enjoyment yet some shyness in it too.
Not spoiled by millions and millions of dollars from sponsors, nor stressed out by the pressure of those sponsors.
offcourse i could be vastly mistaken and he actually carried insulting amounts of money around.
he just has the look like he stepped out of a mitsubishi colt into a open wheeler. i genuinly like that, makes the sport looks much more approachable.

and another one gone due to head injury. improve helmets and the hans device and he would probably still been around today - for him it came too late though
it's guys like this especially that make me respect the FIA more and more for implementing the HALO. Not some 'legend' lost, but nevertheless a valuable human life, especially one of which we never will know what might have been - not unlike Bianchi for example.
