Phil, its something like, Men can't be men these days.
As for the comment made by McHonda, when i read it i was telling myself, what a load of BS. women not watching because of well dressed women on the grid ?? Absolute rubbish. If they were topless or in bikinis, maybe. But they are dressed in fancy summer dresses and all look like they are enjoying themselves.

If your definition of "being a man", and your self identity revolves around letching at women, and needing to treat them like objects, then you
1) Don't know what it means to be a man, and
2) Are a pretty horrible person.

If you think that removing women who literally are defining "objectification" (they have no job other than to look pretty and act as a sign stand) is in any way an attack on manhood, then you're frankly not a very strong man in any way shape or form.

Your misunderstanding my post mate. And for the love of god stop referring to women as objects! No one is doing that other than the people that want the grid girls gone! You guys have the problem! No need to start with the insults pal, I wont call you a horrible person, but seeing as you started, I'll call you a smelly wild animal instead.

I was stating in the modern day (nothing to do with grid girls or F1) men are becoming softer and more sensitive by the day.

If todays generation had to do what the British men of the early 40's had to do, we wouldn't have a chance.

You obviously didn't read it very well as that's not what I said. If people could restrict their hysteria to only what has actually been said that would be helpful.

To be extra clear I'm saying grid girls/podium happy clappers reinforced the idea F1 is for men and that's what some of the women I spoke to found off putting.

Note - I as a man found it off-putting too. It's indicative of a bunch of people who are stuck in an era where people thought that women were for nothing other than letching at.

I would love to rejoin the conversation but I have been warned about my words. Some of which I didn't use and those words are still in this thread.

Yeah I'm going to stop now. Nothing good will come of this, I'll leave the object seeing people to it.
Prib best to lock this one down.

Shame then that I have already received a board warning for them.

With all due respect, I find it more off-putting when supposed "men" are pretending about what they are and that "we" don't react to sexy clothing, breasts or females in general. If men were that immune to the other sex, mankind wouldn't have made it past a few generations and we as a species would have long died out.

Disclaimer: No, of course that doesn't mean we have to be all primitive about it. If people feel this is what has been happening by using grid girls for the sole purpose of adding to the "show" by getting them to look good, hold some numbers for a short duration during a grid walk, well, then there are really bigger issues at hand. Again, none of the girls that work in this field as models have any problem that they are there to promote the sport with their attractiveness to a male dominant audience. Banning them will not make the sport cater to more females and it certainly won't make it more family friendly either.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

I can't tell if you're naive or just being intentionally obtuse.

There are a lot of A holes out there that objectify women. I've lost count how many times my wife has called me and wanted me to stay on the phone when she walked to the car because some scum bag was cat calling her, or making other lewd gestures.

So in other words, we should ban anything that influences bad behaviour?

Murders, violence, crime etc - ban violent video games, movies etc
Sexism etc - ban anything where women could be perceived as objects
....
Speed kills - ban motorsports or anything that influences speeding.

My problem is, is that we are (over-) reacting to an over-sensitive minority.
