No I don't care about it either way just annoying it building up to this level overtaking all other topics constantly on what is possibly the most unimportant decision that liberty will make. Let's be honest debating the grid girls has brought more attention to them than ever i barely noticed them last year and I suspect I won't notice them not being there this year unless the media brings it up constantly
Oh hey, I am happy to admit I don't obsess about those girls and quite frankly, I think the time we actually get to see them is pretty insignificant. If Liberty feel they can use that money more wisely to promote the sport better? No problem. No issue there.
The issue I take here is that Liberty Media is removing the girls under the reasoning that “this custom does not resonate with our brand values and clearly is at odds with modern day societal norms."
This IMO makes it a worthwhile discussion point. I also think there is some relevance in discussing the impact this (and other) decision(s) has on the sport we come to discuss and analyse here every single day. As I mentioned on one of the previous pages; it's all about promoting the sport in ways that attracts an audience. What exactly does the removal of grid girls encompass? Will the organisers of an F1 event still be able to use i.e. sexy clothed models on premise of the GP? Or will this practice be prohibited? In other words, is this decision solely on the grid girls or does it reach further than that?
Liberty Media is making it clear with the above quote that this decision is all about perceived "image".
I also think with all the decisions as of late the sport has been going through (Halo, hybrid engines, focus on big car manufacturers over privateer racing teams, loss of broadcast rights through free tv in two of its most significant markets, now no more grid girls), there's a legitimate question to be asked what is happening to our sport and where it is heading and at what expense. And I dare say, I think it's also fair to ask if these decisions are happening for the right reasons.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II #Team44 supporter
With all the things wrong in the sport, they focus on this?
No, we're focusing on this - it's long done for them.

It's no focus. It's a complete no brainer. Here's a survey of people for and against. Lots of people have been claiming that it's the minority that want to be rid of grid girls when in actual fact it's the reverse. The majority want to see them gone. It is those that want to keep them who are the minority trying to ruin it for the rest of us!
If in that very poll 1000 men voted and only 100 women voted (id say a 10/1 ratio is possible as its followed by men a lot more)
That would mean at the time im looking at the results,
492 people against the change,
370 for the change,
238 dont know.
So you can't use that as a fact. I'm not saying my theory is right, I'm just explaining how easy it is to manipulate figures to make it look how you want.

Incorrect. The methodology means that the poll is weighted to account for that and be representative of the UK population as a whole.

She is part of the uk population. That has been used to weight this poll
Yeh, but Dorris is as dorris does.
In all fairness, they're slightly blunt instruments but they do attempt to give a representation of what the nation as a whole thinks. They take the raw data and extrapolate that out to predict what that would mean across the whole country. I suspect Dorris would be represented by those who answered 'I don't know' for example!
Likewise if 1000 women were surveyed and only 500 men, the poll would use the results from the men and use them to extrapolate what the results would've been had 1000 answered.

It's a fact that these are the weighted results to give a representation of the nation as a whole. Which as more basis than someone simply saying it's the whinging minority who want to get rid of grid girls.
