Jesus, you guys are completely disconnected. You write a post on a social media platform that you wish for a world without social media. Wtf man :)
A forum isn't social media. Sorry.

If the grid kids do a similar job to the grid girls, id like every one who was happy to see the back of the grid girls explain to me how this is fine.

As for the Grid kids, it feels like this is just a reaction to the bad feedback on the matter of the grid girls. If this was planned they would have announced it as they announced the grid girls stopping. Surely.
If you read the release you'll see that they're children who are involved in motorsports. The purpose is to inspire them and give them the thrill of experiencing of what it's like at the pinnacle of the sport. These are kids who dream is to get into F1. They're not there to be looked at, it's a positive experience for them. Once again, I think it's telling that you can't see the difference...

And if you read some of the quotes from the grid girls, they too love motorsport and are grateful to be on the grid so close to the action. So now your telling me women aren't allowed that place ? I mean who wouldn't want to be on the grid right next to an f1 car. Id love to do it and so would most people i know. We've gone from "take them away, we dont want our kids to want to be doing that" to "wow thats great, I want my kids to be wanting that" #-o
I give up with you. So dont worry about replying to this, I shan't even bother reading it.
Good day to you sir.

I think its a good choice to put kids and teens at the grid, as it might inspire a new generation of F1 racing drivers, engineers, managers ect... so over all a good move after the blow of loosing the girls, which for me never was seen as ''sexual'' but as a part of the F1 glamour, and lets face it....glamour and hot girls go hand and hand.

Wiki. Nice one :wtf:
"No they aren't." Nice one. :wtf:

Saw that you'd edited your post now. Sure: the term social media/ platform/ network is new but it describes something way older.
In your opinion and this is the point. There are plenty of sources that say it is and plenty that say it isn't those are backed by the fact that the timeline doesn't work.

Point is it's a spilt opinion and could be argued either way. However what cannot be argued is that the post you originally replied to was totally 100% about social media. You were so quick to jump on it that it didn't occur to you that there isn't 100% agreement on your point.

No, that is not an opinion of mine, it's a classification that has practical value and is used by others. You opposing it is based on your opinion of forums as not social media. I have no vested interest in forum classification; you have when you choose to respond to the blatant contradiction.

This is ridiculous. The 'grid girls' are hired professional models in their twenties. They're not about to be inspired to have a career in F1. There will be young boys and girls on the grid so I don't quite get where you draw the conclusion that I don't think women deserve that opportunity.

We've gone from "take them away, we dont want our kids to want to be doing that" to "wow thats great, I want my kids to be wanting that"

No, that's a really interesting attempt to twist the argument.

Not wanting our children to grow up in a world where they are celebrated purely for their looks is completely compatible with a viewpoint that states that we want our children to be inspired to be an active part of motorsport.

Well, why do you like them? Purely to look at them? Or is it the outfits you like?

It IS kinda pervy as all you're doing is ogling women and the fact that it's so important is quite frankly a little surprising to me.

It reminds me of a convention I was at once where they had a model who would pose next to a motorbike with them for a photo. There was an hour long queue of men waiting to lean against her for their photo. I'm sure if I asked any of them, they'd say it was to get a photo with the bike, the woman was just there to add glamour, I'm not a perv...

Except they definitely were...

The thing is they are not dressed badly (i think texas was too much, but whatndo we expect from america) the majority of circuits had them dressed to a theme linked to the country. They wore summer dresses and sometime outfits that looked like that nations airline uniforms. So if seeing those outfits are 'pervy' then you must struggle to watch tv or walk down the high street on a sunmers day. And just a bit of advice, dont ever go in a night club or a bar, you'll have a heart attack.

But it is. You have decided that an argument for a classification that suits you is correct when other arguments disagree with that classification. Because it suits your argument.

Good luck trying to clear snow off a path with a spade.

It's not what they're wearing or not that I'm making the point about, it's how important it seems to be for you that they are there to look at.

If it's sending a message using a form of media internet is media to another person that can be seen by others a forum is a social media platform regardless if the term came after forums where a thing.
