Gotta agree. For example, for all of Hamilton's accomplishments, I can't really picture his helmet as more than a jumbled mess of gold and red shapes. We usually see a driver and his helmet as one. A helmet should be a driver's personal motif. When we think of Senna, we can immediatelly recall exactly what his helmet look like. Same for James Hunt, Graham Hill and, for a modern example, Sebastian Vettel. They're all simple and distinctive, and most importantly, easy to describe:
James Hunt: Black with three colored horizontal stripes and his name in white.
Graham / Damon Hill: Dark blue with vertical white stripes around the top.
Ayrton Senna: Yellow with a blue and green horizontal stripes running around the helmet.
Sebastian Vettel: White with a german flag as a vertical stripe from front to back.
I always imagined Vettel's constant helmet switching as a result of being forced to put a huge Red Bull logo covering most of it. Unfortunately, Red Bull drivers don't really own their helmet design and can't make them their own. I imagine it was best to be noticed by constantly-changing intricate helmet designs than to be stuck with the same Red Bull helmet that looks like every other Red Bull helmet. Once he got out, he immediately found a design to call his own and stuck with it.

the mandatory red bull icons leave virtually no room for creative design elements. the only major difference between the two are the colours and some other small symbols....
Jos' one looks so much better, if Max could ditch all that red bull rubbish, it would look much nicer.
100% agree. Jos' helmet is better than 95% of the current grid. I don't know how Carlos Sainz is able to do something different with the Red Bull section to the others?
