Mercedes W09 Speculation Thread

The fitting mockup features halo attachment points, so it may be an accurate representation. I'm not sure if the roll hoop signifies they've dropped the large oval intake. Last year, was it bodywork over a small hoop, or was it all hoop?

It was bodywork mostly and you could faintly see the outlines of the hoop just at the entrance of the air intake.

A circular roll hoop would be prohibitively heavy and much weaker than a triangular design, last year's design had the roll hoop set inside a larger intake.

Which said, the version pictured is wider and deeper than last year's central intake, Mercedes may be moving back to a smaller airbox with a single intake, I'd imagine a huge intake combined with the Halo would substantially disrupt airflow to the rear wing.

I just looked at the sneak peak pictures of the W08. There you can also see the blue color, but it might be a bit more blueish on the W09, so maybe more blue..

There's clearly a halo mounted, no it's not just a repost of the W08 pictures
