A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.
It stutters on upshifts just like last year’s McLaren. NOT a good sign, implying Honda STILL have not solved their vibration issues.
Mercedes have the same noise on upshifts, I don't think it's something you can completely avoid just minimise its impact.
Depend on how aggressive the shifting set up, it cost merc transmission failure in 2016. I think this brand New colaboration need few things to be solved together, so they try as aggressive as possible so that they could pick up starting point. Not sure about the aero, but i think in first test we would see brand New wing and bargeboard. The livery of Last year car already stunning, no need to change it
yeah but MCL32 nose had honda on it
The MCL32 nose looks more a straight line with a clear kink at the top of the monocoque while the STR10 has a gradual curve. But looks like a slot at the tip.

Given rumours that TR is "1 month behind the schedule" posted in the forum.
Maybe they decided to run 2017 car (just fixed for regulations) during barcelona tests - to have pure comparison between Honda&Renault engines and reevaluate/confirm aero simulations
Working to bring "real" 2018 chassis for Melbourne
what year car can they freely test? if so, the STR10 testing would make sense;
they have ALL the data on the original STR10.
they have all the data on the 2017 STR - regarding fat tires, wings, etc.
have somebody simulate and work out the data in mounting 2017+ spec material on a STR10.
and have somebody work out a way to plant the honda engine in there.
use it as a testbed for testing the honda engine.
keep developing and testing the STR13 untill the last moment possible, melbourne.
possible?

Sigh. The Honda blame has already begun and they havent even tested yet! And you have a Mercrdes breaking down after a short distance and no one bats an eyelid.

What do you mean ?!
The W09 stopped when it first left the garage. Bottas was pushed back in and was on his way shortly afterwards.

Probably tripped a sensor or something really minor...nothing big to report
I mean obviously the exact design has changed a little from 3 years ago but the idea stays the same. Their new nose seems an obvious iteration of those they've used in the past like on the STR10 & 11 before dropping it for a Merc style nose on the 12.

It makes absolutely zero sense. The car in the photos is a clear evolution of the STR12.
