Toro Rosso STR13 Honda

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I'm curious to see how they develop the car. The extra Honda money coming in and the fact that RB will likely have to use the Honda PU next season would make me think RB will pour more money into the development.

Kept the high suspension for 2018

This view appears to show some vortex generators on the upper edge of the nose. Interesting!
Those ones are located under the front suspension mounting points behind the nose cone and are just a part of typical flow conditioners under the front part of monocoque. Nothing special.

BTW, those slots in the floor become pure big holes in this car.

You are right - I misjudged the depth of them from the angle of that photo.

Looks like it has a good rake. Pic isn't perfectly level so it is a little misleading, but still a pretty steep angle.

TR has the most laps so far lol. Still early but after 1.5 hours Honda PU already done half the laps they did the first day last year.

Speed trap is 5.5 higher than last year too. Still a ways to go but at least things appear to be on the up.

Different view of the Halo Batwing lol

No truth to the rumor that the team's nickname for the car is Sawfish

Sidepod and sharkfin philosophy seem similar though

Seriously different view of them

Much more interesting thing here is a front camera mounting, not a solid structure, but just a thin pod. :o

if you looked at the redbull thread, you would have seen that they have the same.

If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

So everyone has been talking about the large side pod openings and the large intake. Could the sidepod openings be large not because of needing more cooling but because the high front suspension is in line with the sidepod intake.

Could they be trying to capture the dirty air from the suspension wake and use it for cooling instead of allowing it to disrupt the flow further back?
