McLaren MCL33

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Whats interesting is why teams dont use a shape similar to the mercedes cape here instead of a simple airfoil..

There are some juicy aero details on this car and a lot, a lot of room for more of them. I'm expecting the team to tighten those side pods in first half of the season.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

The long slots in the floor aren't legal yet. I can't see any slot that would make the flor one homogenous line when looking from underneath. Maybe they will reinforce the floor later and at slots to make it legal. But i don't think it is legal yet.

Caught this right before the McLaren spun, maybe the suspension buckled and caused the brake duct winglets to grind against the drive shaft?

Might be the no-longer-coaxial wheel rubbing against the brake housing or suspension components. Radial velocity would be greater than that of the driveshaft.

Suspension looks intact.

Can you identify what is damage in that photo? The wishbone splits into two legs just inside the bodywork. That's normal. The space in between is sunlit, maybe the gearbox face.

You do realise that the wishbone splits into two pieces there anyway, right? It's designed like that.

Rare to see unused space in an F1 car these days. That void under the plenum.

There's a couple of unattached hoses there if you look, so may be something there which has been removed.

Yes I do, but there is something sticking up and between the two arms of the split wishbone, it has a Jagged, torn edge, brown colered specs where it has torn. A cm or two back also something White is torn where it seems the Outer layer of material has ripped off.

Also, I,ve had a few Posts deleted on this topic and I am unsure If I am allowed to reply further. I truely wish McLaren no harm, this is not like a crusade ot something but it looks to me something other then just the wheelnut coming loose has taken place. Lets hope tomorrow Goes well, the mcl33 is truely a beautifull machine, McLaren deserved to do well after these troubled years and I’m sure even If it indeed is not just a wheelnut they will be able to resolve it anyway.
