During the Dennis years they would move the world to get it repainted before it went out for the second test. These days it's quite possible they just gave it a good rub.

According to Motorsport IT, SF71-H (3678) is only 2mm shoter than W09 (3680).

It all depends what kind of battery problems they have and how it's integrated in the car. If it's just the battery, they normally remove the floor and lift the battery from below the fuel tank. If it's a problem in the CE that screws with the battery, a bit more time... and if some sensors are screwing with it all, it could be hours...

yap they need a re-design, i think they are making spec parts for Australia and just cut some holes in the engine cover to mitigate the problem... ( i hope )

I don't know, but from the pictures, that really would surprise me. Toto did say that the W09 was identical to the W08 in wheelbase. The W08 was... 3760mm? These numbers would suggest that the W09 is a full 10 cm shorter?

Seeing VER's stint so far with lap times wildly fluctuating, can we interpret that as ERS deployment configuration testing?

It could very well be that. Or Max is doing his usual bit of exploring the track for grip.

Max' 20-lap stint on the mediums: 22.6 - 34.7 - 21.6 - 21.9 - 23.4 - 21.1 - 29.8 - 21.1 - 30.6 - 20.9 - 21.7 - 21.5 - 21.7 - 21.3 - 21.7 - 20.7 - 21.0 - 21.4 - 21.3 - 20.9; credits to f1today.

mediums seem to be holding well.
