Just a 10% increase in energy density would be a game changer, especially during the race.

I believe pre season testing does tell a lot. I guess most teams should have a pretty good idea of the pecking order so far. It's just that we don't have nearly the same capacity to interpret data that multi-million dollar F1 teams have.

Not yet. They have a minimum weight for the ES, what I believe is 25kg (and a max charge). A slightly smaller (lower) package would be the only advantage. If they would release the min weight it would be a good erea for innovation.

There's no limit to the capacity of the batteries only max and minimum weight. Given that you can harvest more than 4MJ per lap it behooves you to have as big a capacity battery as the rules allow.

good god, can we take a moment to realise how dispicable and bad this new format is?
it looks like a dated teletext format from a long-outdated cheap television long overdue for a replacement #-o
This isn't the FOM design  this is just an Excel document made by myself, i use a police who looks like the FOM
oh dear lord i sincerely apologize  #-o
did not mean to be mean. well i can't say that i don't like the format, so that's out there anyway.

nevertheless, do respect the work you put into it, and hey - take it as a compliment that it's been mistaken as official matarial then

good lord i'm gonna crawl under a blanket in a corner and hide
Hahahaha 😂

This is possibly the most entertaining thing I've seen out of all the posts in this thread !

Fantastic apology Manoah2u, and a very funny set of circumstances.

We've all put our foot in our mouth at some time or other.
I know I've made a fool of myself plenty of times.

Back to testing, I believe McLaren are
In a bit of trouble here.

Seems to me they are having too many problems to simply be put down as normal testing gremlins.

I honesty wish they had stayed with Honda 😥

Hi all, I've looked everywhere I know of to find the long run times for teams like Force India, Williams and Renault etc, but it's very hard to find much at all. At best I've found 2 for Williams, one run from Kubica in the first week and one run from yesterday with Stroll. None for FI and a few for Renault.

Anyone help me out with these?

Today's issues 2 out of 3 were Renault related. Renault took the blame for it and said that installation of the battery had no relationship to today's failure, it was just a bad batch. McLaren just did 161 laps on Thursday. Issues are more of teething issues tbh. I am a bit disappointed but not so much that I am in the panic mode.

And hingsight is 2020. Honda seems to have improved (Good for Honda and RedBull in long run) but if it had been another year of broken promises, it would have been catastrophic for McLaren and McLaren just lost faith. But we have alread discussed this topic a million times before on every forum on the internet so let's not get into it. I wanted Nando to win with McLaren Honda and emulate his hero Ayrton. Not all dreams come true.

Lets look ahead for McLaren Renault and for STR-Honda. My only grudge with Honda is that if they had remotely reliable PU, Alonso's 3 years would not have been wasted. C'est la vie.

Seriously? Can't people read? Today it has been Renault batteries shutting down. It has been confirmed. Same thing happened with Renault on Thursday. It happened to Sainz's car today. What does McLaren have to do with Renault sourced batteries?
Not true.
Yesterday were different Issues, but Renault had to change a Battery last Week.

Yes yesterday VAN battery did shut down and VES had a minor problem according de RBR. But Renault had no problem until now. Bob Bell has explained Renault's shitty way of testing the batteries yesterday forum/viewtopic.php?p=745116#p745116

So if Vettel’s running today, it’s likely Rai will be given the remaining two days to make up for the time lost.

That would mean today is Vet’s last day of testing, so we could we’ll see performance runs + race sim.

Kimi will drive this afternoon, if he feels better by then.
Anyway, I personally am not sure about Ferrari changing their program because of a driver change.
