Hopefully f1 posts a new record lap on social media somewhere, as they did last year. I want to see some speed.

Apparently this is the data from Ric's record lap:

Time: 1:18.047

Speed trap: 310,3 km/h

Sector 1: 22,363 (277,6 km/h)

Sector 2: 29,013 (282,7 km/h)

Sector 3: 26,671 (279,0 km/h)

Very low speed trap numbers compared to last year, some 10kph on average down. Must be a lot still in reserve for these cars.

I'm guessing it is a fair dinkum question: the tyre deformation and 2/3 contact patch with a non-congruent car attitude. But i am not sure of the track postion, but even if its a slight right-hander on a slight crest it doesn't tally with the left rear behaviour, so maybe quirky a la Nico Rosberg's strange shot a few years ago showing fairly extreme squat ...mid corner, I think from memory.
What do you make of it?

Ah, ok, thank you for your answer!

To be honest, I can't see anything special. But I have to admit, I'm no expert by any means! ;-)

Are there any "Ted's Notebook"-links floating around? I'm really interested, but I'm geoblocked.

Any thoughts on time differences between US and HS and SS and S?
This expanded range should be a good thing to cater for different chassis designs, as long as they dont go pop.

Why do some seem to take pleasure in the demise/failures of McLaren? We all know the situation, it was never going to be an easy job switching to Renault power after the mess that occurred with Honda, they have done a lot more running in these tests than in the last few [not checked].
I for one take pleasure in seeing this because all of McLaren's bashing against their engine partner is now put into a different light. I have no relation to either McLaren or Honda, but the way Honda was demolished in public and the way they took the blame was just shameful.

Now we see that again the McLaren struggles with consistent runnin and is AGAIN looking to blame someone else.

Also all the talks about: "We have the best chassis out there, it's just the engine......." - well of course you have. If you build a chassis so on the edge of what the PU requires in space and cooling that it more than often fails and needs to be tuned down, then of course your chassis will be better than most. It's just not helping you.

Add to that Mr. Samurai "I am fighting like a lion" Alonso with his whining and now him causing the WEC calendar to be reshuffled which leads to issues for many "not so famous" racing drivers I see a special pleasure in this development. I couldn't care less about Alonso in any other proper racing series....
