The McLaren engine-only roll hoop inlet is interesting, only one in the field. The 'airbox' is half the width of the Renault, if not less than.

It seems McLaren, RB and TR have much less appendices to the side. All other have very complex sides of the car.

Now you can see the effect of the raised lower wishbone and small nose at the Mercedes, they have a massive "hole" above the neutral area of the FW all the way to the diffuser, compared to Ferrari.

What a difference in front wing ride height between the two car!

One is on rain tire (higher) other on slicks, one is slightly below the drawn line (Ferrari) other slightly above, and distance to camera/objective seems not the same.

But Yes, Ferrari has a higher rake.

This one is useless, because the angle is completely different. Just look at the rear tires and compare.

Roughly, does anyone have any idea the difference between the longest and shortest wheel base cars? I saw a video during testing last week with the Mercedes and Toro Rosso at the end of pit lane. Could have been an optical illusion but the TR look massively shorter.

I did the usual shitty wheelbase calculation based on wheel size in those top down pics
so far i have

Merc 378 (last year calculated as 376, same this year so it's just 2cm off)
STR 369

i'll do the others later

i won't post pics for all cars but this is what i'm doing

the ellipses give me the center of the wheel/the axle AND allow me to (roughly) find the middle of the car, this is where is 'measure' the wheel and then the wheelbase in pixels which gives me the length in cm

The results aren't precise of course, they nevertheless give an idea of relations between the wheelbases (maybe ... lol) and the Merc is just 0.5% off - given the low resolution i'd say that's not too bad

All bar the Saubr have the marks across the tarmac. This should allow an approximate scaling of the images with overlays to show lengths. As the widths must all be the same, there should be reasonable accuracy.

First off, wow thanks for doing this work.

Have you noticed the two parallel timing lines in the ground?, it seems that some Higher Power has provided a good length reference, at least for the cars that are roughly stradling it.

W09 thread has talk of the CircusF1 website doing photo analysis and concluding new Merc is actually ~ 60 mm longer than last year! I know random fan websites like CircusF1 do not get their work reviewed by SAE committees, etc. but I find it plausible that Merc could have lengthened and lied. OK, misled rather than lied.
