You cannot beat the Italians for commentating - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1JuxgiPvz0
Isn't that Spanish?
Might be, now you've spoilt the dream
There are a couple of spanish gents in here somewhere, they may help.
the last bit did sound spanish didnt it.
But either way their passion is just the best to capture motor racing.
James Hunt and Barry Sheene were just the trick because they knew what was going on (sorry Martin  )

Martin isn't in the role of shouty commentator, he's the detail, in-depth part of the team.

Most US sporting events do have music playing in the TV broadcast during the event, but I only recollect this happening in American Football, basketball, and baseball coverage, and only when showing highlight reels, replays, and going in and out of ad breaks. I haven't seen it in motorsport coverage, and if there are no ad breaks in the Sky F1 coverage during the race can't see how it would work.

mexican.

so yup, that's spanish. not italian.
i remember hearing some spanish commentator on fernando alonso when he was @ Ferrari in contending for the championoship.
went off the wall when nando won a gp in that season. i dont remember which race it was. im thinking it was Monza, but not sure.
they were also rooting for Perez, who was on absolute fire that day too.

think it was Sky spanish. not sure though. dont recall what year either. 2012? 2010? i THINK 2012.

couldn't get my hands on a english sky download but had access to a link with spanish commentary. (website's filled with sports in spanish).

NASCAR often does “turn up the volume” laps with no commentary just to hear the cars roar by. That’s awesome! Playing music instead is stupid.

thanks! i'm gonna miss malaysia gp like crazy

also once again reminded how much we miss both Alonso in a competitive car,
and Kobayashi in F1 alltogether

what i would NOT miss is BS music fragments for 3 minutes and no commentary to randomly throw in music #-o

Yeah exactly, Lets have 3mins on "action laps" but have it with no music, let alone that pile of puss that Liberty have recently launched. FFS this group of American's are going the right way to piss off the F1 fans from abroad, and probably the American fans too.

I wish Liberty would somehow read this next sentence....

could you perhaps not refer to fellow F1 lovers in the states as 'yanks'? it's pretty rude actually.
I'm British. They refer to us as Limeys, we to them as Yanks. It's all part of the "special relationship" we're told we have with each other. They "insult" us, we "insult" them, we invade oil-rich countries together. What's not to like? Unless you have oil in your back garden, of course. Then it's probably all a bit worrying.
I've always thought seppo was a much more affectionate term.

I'd never heard that word before except as a Finnish given name. TIL and have a new thing to call my American colleagues :)

Seppo is short for septic tank, which rhymes with Yank.. Yeah, I dunno either! I guess it has some cockney rhyming slang origins.

I'm actually for this but they should not play music either. I just want to watch the flippin race and hear the engines!

I think it is hypocritical to go on for years about the importance of the engine sound and then play some crappy "Pirates of the Caribean" sound track over it. But then again what do you expect from a nation where every movie car chase includes classics like Bullitt:

When Bullitt continues pursuit of the Charger after spinning off into the dirt, you can hear him upshift once as he is driving away. In the next shot you can hear him upshift another three times. It is impossible to upshift any more than three times in total in a 4-speed transmission.

And far more knowledgeable then Hunt.
