I think it looks better than expected, McLaren will make quick progress during the season.

Does anybody know how they compare on the long runs, especially against HAAS, Renault & STR?
STR is not even in the same "class". It's just slower. Renault and Haas and McLaren are closely matched though in long runs. Haas seems faster over single lap.

It’s time to roll some heads. Starting with Boullier. 4th season with him as head of the racing team. 4th start with massive problems. He has to go.
What "massive" problems? THey had a relatively trouble free running apart from a minor hiccup in FP1. :?:

With perspective, this is the best post ever written competing for the "pre-season & early season" lightweight crown. I think we have a champion.

what boulier said was "they addressed the problems". that was followed by headlines of "mclaren promises to have fixed problems of testing", later elavated to "mclaren swear to fans that they will never, ever have a problem in the history of the future world" by people in the comment sections.

Well there's certainly good reason to be more positive than worried right now

I'd say Haas is the 4th best at the moment. Mclaren will be fighting Renault for 5th, then FI, then TR fighting Williams. Sauber a further 8 tenths to a second behind the midpack.

first of all looks like 100% wet Q ...and with RIC penalty there is top 6 chance ...for haas i dont think it is clearly 4 best
..we must wait 3-4 races ..until mocano for mclaren the target must be must points as possible .....lets see the rest of the weekend first ..

Watching the differences on BSPD3 and BEST SPEED the lowest margin by far its for Alonso. Weird to see so abnormal margin. Its like he wasn't opening DRS on the whole straight or something, which i don't believe to be the case.Maybe Deployment issue. OR maybe he is using more downforce than the others. At least on those runs. It seems he carries more speed in the corner , has a good traction out of it, he arrives on start finish line with higher speed than other Renault engine cars and then downforce/drag catches up and keep his top speed low.
I don't know, It just looks weird.
Any Ideas ??
could be working on the settup for a wet qualiying tomorrow?

Let's wait and see when they turn the engine up. I think there's a lot more to come from all cars. I still get the feeling McLaren are running conservatively right now.

I’ve had that feeling for the last three years, Let’s wait and see how tomorrow pans out

With the 3 engine limit this season it will be hard to get a read through practice sessions, they will be run far leaner to prolong their life.

With the gap to Red Bull, it's clear that the Mclaren has a ways to go yet. They seem confident in their ability to improve over the season.

They always have improved and they will again. Anyone who thought Mclaren will be a match for RBR straight out of the box is uneducated of Formula 1 matters. It takes time, they will be there!
