iam independent and you are ALO fan you will defend him blindly .. whats it in mclaren for him to sign the deal if not for the money ? didn't he say he don't want to be second anymore  don't you remember him saying so
he is heavily talented but thats don't prevent him being a mercenary.
What is wrong with what I wrote? Alonso did take a paycut this year, that's why Kimoa is on the car.

And he's committed to racing so much that he is competing in two different world championships this year.

"Dead meat" is the laughable thing, Alonso smashed Vandoorne last weekend and kept Verstappen behind.

I just watched the interview (I'm Dutch) and he never said he would get a racing seat. He could get a role as a reserve/test driver. I really hope Alonso stays, McLaren clearly needs him. I haven't seen one weekend where Vandoorne was better than him.

man i know very well how much talented and fit is ALO it just an expression for his age in the sport.. when people get older they look for the money much more than they care about titles which he already achieved.

100% Fernando will leave Mclaren he actualy stayed there in 2018 for one and only reason the 40$m he got as salary.
this could be his last year in F1 he is a dead meat and if you think he lose you would be naive the last 4 years alone he got 40m$ per year
he already has 2 titles to his name he need nothing more and he won't get a Mercedes or Ferrari-Ricciardo bound seat anyway.
Dead meat

By the way Alonso this year took a paycut so what you are saying doesn't really make sense.

Fernando 100% took a pay cut when he signed the new Mclaren deal. There was an article which stated this, but also noted that his WEC commitments would augment his paycut a little bit, plus he got kimoa branding on Mclaren, the rear wing no less.
Also, Fernando wanted to initially commit to Mclaren for 1 year only, (2015) but Ron Dennis offered a take it or leave contract for 3 years, no exit or break clause.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Rookie driver Nyck de Vries is now live on Dutch television and has some interesting comments:

- He and Lando are going to have fight it out in the formula 2 for a seat in F1. He said he has got it black on white that the person that ends up higher in the formula 2 championship will get a seat in F1 next year.

- He tested the Bahrain update for 2 days in the simulator this week, but McLaren has not yet decided about actually bringing it to the Grand Prix. However, he feels that the team should bring the update to the next race.
Next year??? Is Fernando or Stoffel leaving next year??

That's pure bs. The more you keep shouting that he joined for the money the more you humiliate yourself. Answer me those questions please. If he just joined for the money then why he desperately wanted Renault for this year?????? (while Honda could easily pay him a hell of a money just to retire and come 15th). Why he raced in Indy 500? Why he raced in Daytona 24? Why he will complete a full season in WEC (alongside with F1!)? Why he still races in karting? Why he got so mad and sad when he realized that 2017 will be another sh@t season? Why he punched a hole on the wall after they took him out in Singapore 2017? And why he left Ferrari, while he could be comfortably close to the big teams? He just wants to win, period. You talk with words, he talks with actions.

In there you'll see..
And while the team would likely keep Alonso for as long as the Spaniard wants to race, Belgian Vandoorne’s place is not guaranteed.

McLaren's podium quest needs divine intervention

Speak of misleading headlines !! It's really is too early to make a statement like that.

Well not a miracle, but they need a truly chaotic race because the gap with RB is still big.

.9 in Melbourne, can they close the gap? Haas is .3 faster. McLaren needs to gain over half a second to even think about podiums on merit.

Even if they get .5 second, they'd still have the 7th fastest car. So I think they'd need a lot more than that to get a podium on raw pace.

Don't focus on qualifying pace, I'm talking about race pace, in the race the McLaren is only .9 seconds off the ultimate pace. The race pace is ahead of both Renaults already, both Alonso and Vandoorne had stronger pace. Only the Haas cars are ahead in the midfield group, and by only a few tenths. Ahead of them the top group is a further .6 up the road.

McLaren just needs to develop and get the most out of the chassis. I think they'll overtake Haas by China, if not then by Spain for sure.

Well, if Vettel and Hamilton would have crashed in Australia, there would be a podium finish :). To achieve it, they dont really need to be there, its enough if you are right next to it and claim it if something goes wrong in the front.

But with all jokes aside, they are far from it right now. Australia is a circuit that doesnt really show where are the cars actually. I, was for sure certain that in 2014 great things are coming since both cars scored podium finish and we all saw what happened after that. Haas, Renault and Mclaren are close together, with Haas curently leading the pack, but Mclaren did a tramendous leap forward, from dredfull 2017 season. Haters will still hate, and troll and bellitle them, but progress is aparent. And it is great to get such a decent start, even though luck intervened for it.

Step by step, day by day.
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

I'm rather curious on what will happen in the next coming races, Hass, even since their year one have always been strong in Australia & then quickly fallen off afterwards, curious to see if this will still be the case (& know its not really on topic but will their previous brake issues come back up again, as even last year it looked like they were sorted in Australia only to come back again as the season progressed). Personally hoping for a clear 4th in the next couple races as integration improves as well as aero/suspension updates that are in the pipeline.
