Boy, ferrari really does have slow car with fuel problems. Amus knew it well.

They might, or did you not notice a Merc on older tyres pulling 7 tenths of a second per lap on a Ferrari in clean air?

Nope, I'd imagine its just the result he/she has looked at, and that would make someone think Ferrari won comfortably with a nice gap to the best Mercedes.

- They are behind, not far but more than in '17 (Hamilton is very quick in Australia - you can guesstimate), Red Bull is quicker over one lap
- won by luck, circumstances, it's not '17 with race pace advantage
- RB drivers and Bottas underperformed so no other reference points, except Riccardo-Raikkonen, perhaps fuel :wink: but more like SC - tyre strategy
- Mercedes had some race/engine problems

Red Bull is not quicker in one lap. Verstappen had mistake in last lap. Same as Vettel...

I believe he is referring to Lewis' laps catching up to Vettel at the end, just after Lewis made the mistake that put him 3-3.5 seconds behind. Within a matter of 3-4 laps the gap to Vettel was within a second again, despite Lewis stopping to change tires prior to the infamous safety car period (when Vettel did indeed pit).

Alonso won 2 races before this tyre change, with unfortunate races in Malaysia and Bahrain where he would have been in the fight as well.

Just something to include in this discussion, this is not something new for Mercedes at all.
As expected, Pirelli responded to Mercedes outcry and will reduce tyre tread thickness for Barca, Paul Ricard and Silverstone.

If this change were to occur (again) it’s certainly not in the spirit of competition. All manufacturers were provided an identical product. Some are more successful in making that tyre work than others. Why should the tyre itself then be changed to suit the characteristics of one manufacturer more? This blows my mind. It’s this sh** I haaate about F1 sometimes.

The tyre has been decided! It has not been shown to be faulty. Leave it as is for the entire campaign.

Of course they don't like it, but this was expected. Some things are too obvious and blatant in F1 at the moment.

- What's blatant? Pirelli are not doing it to help Mercedes, if you think that I can't help you.
- "Big problems" are not that big if they're related to two old tracks (GB, Spains) and one new (France). Potentially since testing is the only evidence.
- Storm in a tea cup, Mercedes weren't losing sleep over that anyway. Forget all the other tracks let's shout about blisters in Barcelona :roll: .
