I wonder is merc is setup more for a warm race, potentially Ferrari will chew its tyres more?

For now though - as a Ferrari fan, I will enjoy this moment. First consequitive front row lockouts since Michael was in the car. I was 16. Feelin good so far!

Ferrari clearly ahead . Bottas quicker than Ham 2/3. Top went for S, let's see if it's a 1-stopper.

Is Ricciardo still babbling about what he would have done in Bottas' place instead performing on his own? RB organization has no shame nor ethics. I bet Bottas would have been much quicker in RB.

Will RB start shouting about Ferrari's PARTY MODE since they are miles behind them and close to Merc? That's the problem with dumbed down BS for the masses about engine advantages and best chassis.

They were on US in the second run but I think Merc was already using their highest engine mode in the second run of Q2 and Ferrari were not.

Wrong.
Ferrari just drove to a target time, saving tyre life for the start of the race. You could see they were not pushing at all.

Ferrari seems to have done an amazing job. It's still early days, but beating Mercedes by this big margin on a track which suits them quite well is impressive. Of course, we can't know if Mercedes has set up more for the race and less for qualifying. However, this still wouldn't explain them being half a second down - that's too much.
As for tyre management, if Mercedes struggles to bring them in their working window, but Ferrari seems to have been spot on today, it also shows the good work of the Scuderia team. Congratulations to them.

I'm excited for tomorrow and hope we will see a nice race.

Uhm... Ferrari able to have pace with a larger range of track temperatures. So it's more like Mercedes had to compromise today to race tomorrow. Ferrari didn't have to compromise as much today or tomorrow.

Mercedes will most likely be more vulnerable to strategy changes during the race.

Ferrari clearly have the quickest car no doubt about that. Hamilton has been very average since Australia, Vettel is going to walk it at this rate.
