Kimi losing the time in the final sector, shame it would've made for an interesting race

Mercedes much faster than Ferarri on the softs but soon as those ultras go on they lose over 3 tenths in the first sector then under a tenth in sector 2 and 3. Credit to Ferrari they've been bringing significant upgrades to each race, clearly pushing flat out in development.

Ferrari was safely through with their banker laps, Mercedes needed that second run.

Do you really believe that Mercedes overheated the Ultras in these cold conditions? I don't think so.
Vettel was more than a second faster on Ultras in Q3 than he was on his fastest lap on Softs in Q2. I don't know what the delta between Softs and Ultras is, but surely not over a second. Showing you that Ferrari could have gone much faster on Softs.

I'm impressed by this result, but I suppose silver arrows went for a race oriented setup. That's going to be an interesting race tomorrow, also we'll have to watch RB starting on US. I feel for Ricciardo, is it possible that they went for a too aggressive packaging?

I believe its not the setup per say. But those conditions suited Ferrari more. Ferrari engineers are not stupid. But anyway from Friday it should be tight.

So all their success to date was achieved on a Quali setup? Wow!
Now why would they change a winning formula?

So now there are no more Mercedes tracks or Ferrari tracks, everything goes, specially since Ferrari was in Q3 almost half a second faster than Mercedes.

That being said, this is shaping into a Ferrari Championship, if indeed Vettele makes 3 out of 3.

Let us not forget that Mercedes have behind those 2 Red Bull on UltraSoft tyres and of course that driver named Max. PRAISE JESUS

Like i said in another post, if Hamilton finishes the race behind Vettel, the championship is 80% done, considering they now have the 2nd best car on the grid.

If Vettel manages to keep his position after the first few corners, he will win it.

Alonso in spain, two teams now had a turbo pop. Packaging seems unlikely, they will for sure cool to required spec.

How come everytime Mercedes doesnt get pole, people start making excuses for them?

What does RACE ORIENTED SETUP mean?

They are at the moment the second best car on the grid, no more no less.

Ferrari went purple S1 and S2 on second run in Q2 but pitted before finishing lap.
On the US.

Half second between FER and MER isn't normal. I don't think tomorrow will be so easy for Ferrari at all, that's going to be a tough race

Rapapapumm..Wow! What a performance by Ferrari. All this talk about Mercedes having the edge in china cause of cooler conditions. Yaaawn

Also some of you are saying Mercedes went for race set up.. oh please, don’t make yourself look fool. Do you think Mercedes would give up the front row lockout? That’s not a sign of champions. Mercedes wants it all and Toto is not making excuses, He admitted, Ferrari have surprised them.
Well done to Bottas! Hamilton looks puzzled. Let’s hope he shows up tomorrow. (Although I would’nt mind if he didn’t) lol

I think Sergio Marchionne has been assured that the guys at Maranello have indeed created a MONSTER!!

"I was in Maranello for the last few days and the guys are busy but they seem too relaxed," Fiat and Ferrari president Marchionne is quoted as saying at the Detroit motor show.

"I can only conclude that we have either made a real monster or garbage!"

It will be an interesting race with warmer conditions tomorrow. Let’s hope for the best..

I think this year this track will suit Ferrari better in 2018 than Mercedes- due to the longer wheelbase, compared to 2017.

But it is just speculation.

I think the owners of F1 need to get on pushing through those rules. No way will Ferrari walk away from that car. This is the best time to wallop them with the funding deduction.

Before anyone asks YES it is relative on here because it's referencing how good the Ferrari car currently is.
