Red bull has got some speed on the straight here with that non-existent RW. Easily catches up alonso even though he's defending with drs.

And still again Horner at the end of FP2 was mentioning the power sensitive last sector to let their times look even more impressive. :)
That's because like for like with no slipstream they're still 2-3 tenths off, while carrying half the wing.

AMuS FP2 report isn't out yet, but once it is, I am sure there will be some (better) insight into the long-run pace (that's a much better performance indicator than the fastest laps thrown around in this topic).
From my calculations of the ultra soft stints, the cars were lapping in these times when the degradation is accounted for:

Merc - ? 1m48.2s
Red Bull - 1m47.5s
Ferrari - 1m47.6s
Force India - 1m47.9s
Renault - 1m48.2s
Haas & McLaren - 1m48.8s
TR - 1m49.6s

Hamilton did a very short stint, so can't be compared easily to others, while Bottas did a much longer stint than others lapping in the 1m48.2s. They most certainly aren't slower than Force India, so it's safe to say they're ahead or equal with RB/Ferrari.

TR also did a long stint on the US. Others are more comparable stint lengths.

Not really. They were new compounds.
Any simulations would have been on a total guess.
Mate, you have no idea how wrong you are. :)
You were saying?

It seems the SS is THE tyre here. Ferrari have brought 10 sets of US.
Sorry, what? :)
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

All those predictions????? After 3 races it's well known that Fer and Merc tune down the engine's during FP's. No way anyone can make a prediction now. We will just need to wait for QF.
Everybody is a Ferrari fan.

There is always so much talk about the teams being aggressive with the tire choices or picking the wrong ones meanwhile after FP2 they all have pretty much the same left.

Race day is going to be windy as all hell and cold to boot 14 degrees C with 40km/h winds.
Great for overtaking though. High winds help clear the wake from cars and temperatures will mean tyres are all over the place.

That’s a very odd graph. Hamilton got progressively quicker?
