Steering suspension geometry (Caster, KPI, Scrub radius, trail) in F1 today?

Post

Hey guys,

I know in GP2, the steering effort is quite high, and they only have limited caster (about 6 degs) and only a little bit of suspension trail. In F3, the caster is huge at about 13 degrees, and the trail is larger too. That makes the steering heavy but as the car is lighter and has less downforce than GP2, it is still humanly possible.

In F1, they have power steering, so they might be able to afford having a certain front suspension parameters outside of the 'humanly possible' values. Perhaps this might aid the car to turn in low speed, high steering lock situations by jacking some weight around. But perhaps this is not done at all..

Has anyone ever read about / heard about / seen / measured some of these properties in F1 these days?
- Caster
- Scrub radius
- Trail
- Kingpin angle
- ackerman

Cheers,
Niels

Anyone in the know probably signed one or two NDAs  Maybe you could get a general feel of the KPI if you could see the naked upright.
