the explanation was that they didn't know how it works because its complex. Which team is still pushing to test this theory?

So this new FIA hardware will be mounted on every car on the grid to be fair...

Maybe the FIA isn't sure yet if Ferrari is cheating and they want to calm the other teams down so that they don't file a protest.

If other teams are sure Ferrari is cheating, then they can try to provide proofs themselves.
Unfair to fit only Ferrari with a different hardware.

maybe its probably for free practice only? it would definitely be unfair to fit it for whole weekend. Or do with all or don't do it. Who is the most vocal behind this? RB? Merc?

Why? It seems the FIA are allowed to see exactly how things work of every car. If the other cars are running a ERS solution that is very transparent, they know how the energie is being deployed and when. If the Ferrari solution is so complicated that it can't be understood, naturally they'd want assurance by adding this hardware.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

How can other teams provide proof if they don't have access to Ferrari hardware? FIA's role is to investigate any reasonable suspicions and they are in the position to do so.

I do agree that whatever hardware FIA has fitted to the Ferrari should go on all cars.

I hope this hardware is at least actually capable of detecting the fraud (if any). What if the detection device is not capable (or itself can be fooled again by working around it) then they have a home free ticket (and know it).

Both RB are looking very fast from the very first moments, as the same time Williams is looking (sadly) awful once again.

Max under investigation for reversing back on to the circuit.

Any chance of a minor grid penalty here or just a slap on the wrists?

judging by the history of penalties given to Max it would probably be just a reprimand

It wasn't just that he reversed on to the circuit. He reversed all the way to the apex of turn 1!

Grid penalty will be harsh, probably a reprimand.

From Autosport Live
News from McLaren about Alonso, who sits at the bottom of the leaderboard with just five laps completed:

It's a brake-by-wire system problem that required "quite a bit of stripping the car" to make sure everything was as it should be. McLaren is "putting it all back together again now to see if we’ve properly fixed it".
