A question:
Roll hoops were there to ensure when the car turned upside down, the bridge formed by the front of the chassis and the hoop would protect the driver.
Halo presents a new point so that an upside down car would lean on it and the hoop.
Now to the question: If the halo’s trailing edge was slightly raised to be just above the driver’s head, wouldn’t it be able to protect the driver’s head from getting crushed? In that case, there wouldn’t be a need for a roll hoop.
Why was this not considered? Is it because it would be too big of a change?
Could you enlighten me?
