I love and respect bike open road racing because it combines high-risk with high-skill. The risk, for better or worse, is necessary to demonstrate the skill. A great counterexample that explains why Isle of Man is awesome is: Proximity Wing-suit flying (flying with a roughly wing-shaped suit like Wile E. Coyote of long-ago, but doing it near things like cliffs, trees, etc. to make it dangerous). Proximity wing-suit flying is highly dangerous, but not really very difficult. Taking the risk at Isle of Man and being successful takes all the bravery of proximity-wingsuit, but it also requires skills that wingsuit folks could never dream of. That's what makes it worthwhile and really awesome. For those that can. Otherwise: your wingsuit, a video crew, and your cliff await!!! Enjoy!
