What's the most number of laps ever completed at Le Mans? Is the no. 8 car on track to beat that?
Always find the gap then use it.

Most number of laps completed in Le Mans is 397, in 2010 and 1971. In terms of distance though 2010 holds the upper hand with 5410 km compared to 1971's 5335 km. 394 and 395 laps was seen as well.
#8 completed 341 laps with 2h40mins to go, so a record is possible.

Something around the 390 laps marker is posible, the sheer amount of safety cars has hampered the progress, if that SC that was out for the repairs to Tetre Rouge this morning wasn't out, and if it was covered by a slow zone, id say it was on for close to the record if not the record.

yes they will fall short by 10 laps.........the average number of laps per hour is 16 so now at 354 laps, so two hours to go so it will end at 386 laps only....and also at the last hour they just reduce the pace significantly so may be 380 laps only

#7 Toyota slowing down, seems to have an issue

edit:
It was a fuel issue, #7 missed its pit lap.

how many rules they have now for stint lengths, fuel flow, energy amount etc., seems very overcomplicated to a point where even British sounding commentators and guest pilots cant figure out why someone got some penalty for extra something.... either used more fuel, or did extra lap or something

Porsche wiping the floor in GT...yes they have some extra money since exiting LMP1 so that their GT program benefits from that. But it is a long race....Ford GT is still very competitive although qualy didn't show it. Also new Aston Martins vs. 4 year old Corvettes
The only thing porsche benefits from is a veeeery generous BoP.
GT-Class with its remind to real road cars could potentially be spectacular.
but BoP reduces it to a pure political risiko.
"Veeeery generous BoP" I guess you didn't know, but they got stuck with an extra 10kg for the race
even
with this extra ballast rsr is still more than 20 kg lighter and most of all 9 l more fuel with respect to ferrari (not to mention engine restrictions but those implications are less immediate to figure out)
The only form of honest BOP that I can understand is power limitation: but once you have more or less flattened top power of all the engines, if you have a better chassis or a more aero/fuel efficient car then good for you.

So no win for Alonso then? Good. I dont want him to win off other people's backs.
Congrats to ALO, NAK and BUE, they did not put a foot wrong other than Buemi having 10 sec stop&go for speeding in the pitlane...

Hope your sorry ass enjoys this show...

So Alonso won after all. I am happy for Kazuki "Crapajima" he got so close 2 years ago to finally get it now is retribution.

They said Alonso was the fastest, but Kazuki had to nurse the car in the last stint so it's hard to compare.

Congrats Alonso! My second favourite driver.

I'd like to see laptimes from the night stints from last year and 2016, Alonso was just as quick (or even quicker) during the night than the others during the day and i'd like to know how it looked in previous races - because right now it looks like he brought them back into the race by clawing back 1:40min in 2.5h of running

Alonso's "success" is all other variations of motorsport just goes to show what an absolute farse formula 1 really is.
Pointless technology in a pointless series.

Wow, an average of 4,6 seconds/lap faster on a 20 laps stint :o =D> =D>

He said at the tv he´s more aggressive on the tires compared to his teammates, so he has more overheating problems at day, but at night he can make the tires work better so he was able to attack and reduce the gap. Even so, 4.6 seconds faster for 20 laps is impressive
