Honda RA108 aero-mech development in 2008

FRONT WING AUSTRALIA
Image

Double profiled front wing
1.Deep rather boxy spoon shape , the major amount of front downforce is produced by the central part of the wing . This makes the wing less influenced by side wings ( when the car turns ) .
2. Τhe outer extremities of the main flap are bending upwards to create a gap between the wing profile and the ground in order to reduce the pitch sensitivity of the car at high speed
3. Curved pillars
4. Venturi Channel
5. Τhere is not any winglet on the endplates
6.The endplates have a vertical shape and a sharp cut at their upper profile . They bend inwards in order to guide the airflow to the inside profile of the front wheels
7.Vertical fin under the wing
8.Connection between the wings
9. The second flap is wider under the nose cone compared to winter testing

Thanks for the photos.

Doesn't this approach lose to much down-force on corner entry?

Could it also be the reason for the loss of top speed?

Or is the problem the high nose all together?

Brand new front wing for Britain. I thought that Honda had written off this year in favor of next.

This one dips far lower and the end plates have gained a new horizontal piece both on the inside and outside which is likely to guide the flow better.

Honda has stopped development for this year a while ago. What you see here and the next couple of races is the result of research done much earlier.

Honda came to Hockenheim with new barge boards and wheel fairings.

Edit: They have been using these fairings for a couple of races now.

does anyone have any idea what is in this picture?

http://www.racecar-engineering.com/imag ... d18261.JPG

some sort of ballast pod, maybe? or would it be testing related? i believe the picture was from the silverstone test.
