In 1906 The French held the very first Grand Prix for manufactures over a 64-mile course near Le Mans. Of the 32 cars that started the race 11 remained after 12 laps split over two days. The winner was Ferenc Szisz, a Hungarian, driving a 90hp Renault.

He replaced the foto in the passport with a picture of "member".

Because a mechanic that was in the robbery claimed he had worked for him and he had lent him money, or so I vaguely remember. I should Google for it, but I'm busy like I've been for the last couple of months.

It seems Racing Maniac did not see your answer, WB, as I did with the previous question, sorry. To try to revive the thread, here is a question, just in case.

Name a german noble who ran a racing car with SS runes.

That can only be Manfred von Brauchitsch who ran Mercs in 1937 and 1938. I did not find a picture with SS runes though, only swasticas. But it is very likely considering the cars were sponsored by the NSDAP and some drivers were close to the party (Lang closest of the Merc drivers I believe, Bernd Rosemeyer of Auto Union was a member for a long time).
