Is the Hulk an option? Or is it already official that Dan and the Hulk are pairing up for next season?

Hulk also speaks Dutch and is a friend of Max. I think they could work well together. Can be the best pair up of the grid imo.
I thought Hülkenberg has a contract with Renault for next year already!?

He does. Both Hulkenberg and Ricciardo are confirmed at Renault.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

For the whole team. The past has shown very well how constructive Alonso is for a team, certainly wehen he has some actual competition.

Pretty much everything that has been happening at Red Bull these months have been an indication of them building for the next few years. Even Horner said so. Alonso would've been a distraction from the task of building the team (and Honda) to challenge for the title in 2020 or in the new formula.

Unhealthily? lol

Maybe for Max.

2007.

Also, he left Ferrari on some bad terms and spent the whole McHonda time talking down Honda.

I cannot see that being constructive in any way, shape or form.

Somewhere a line is drawn between the team and the driver. Behind that line, it's not the responsibility of the driver anymore, because the driver can only do so much. Behind that line, the team needs to act and take responsibilities. This has not been done since Fernando joined Mclaren. It's unlucky for him to be in this situation. Yet we are now pointing at him to be more professional and not act all frustrated, when things haven't really changed for the past 3 seasons at Mclaren. Two season of making excuses Honda wasn't doing their job, but yet now with Renault, the results are as bad.

Remember back in 2009 when Hamilton started the season with that dog of a Mclaren. I could remember him asking his team out of frustration to build a new car, because the car wasn't working at all. Hows that for being constructive?

Alonso had a contract with McLaren for 2008, wich was a title contender. But he moved to a midfield (at best) Renault.

What else do people need to accept the unfair treatment he received at Mclaren back in 2007?

Maybe people think Alonso is stupid, or he was not interested on the fight for the title that season #-o

The only reason to do that move is he was sick of Hamilton favouritism in McLaren, wich OTOH is pretty reasonable considering McLaren was eager to win a title with a british driver after more than 3 decades, since James Hunt in 1976. Politics and marketing have always played a huge role in F1

Considering the scrutiny they were under that year, neither of them got preferred treatment.

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2007/ ... rts.sport1

This article states that it is policy to not have prefered treatment. I don't think there even has been a situation where McLaren actively preferenced one driver over the other.

I also don't think driving for a team you have actively betrayed the past year is something that is realistically possible.

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2007/ ... rts.sport1

Now, if we consider that. It isn't really weird that you place your bets on the driver who hasn't betrayed you and the whole team.

Scrutiny?

None can say what´happening inside a F1 team

But hey, if a journalist say preffered treatment is not usual in McLaren, then it surely didn´t happen

At least you now admit there was prefered treatment, even if you think it was the consequence instead of the cause

Didn't the FIA place someone in the garages to ensure equal treatment?

Stepneygate was the thing in 2007.

If that is your conclusion then how can you ever say Hamilton did get preferred treatment?

Not really, there is a difference in where you prefer someone above the other, or where you rather ignore the other because no one in the team can actually trust him. Alonso was the latter, not the first.

Uhm... in 2007 McLaren was part of Daimler. The biggest reason why Alonso and McLaren/Daimler split up for the 2008 season was Alonso's testimony around spygate and let also to the split between Daimler and the other big shareholders, Dennis at point. If you would make a timeline, this is point where it went for McLaren. When the ownership turned from Daimler back to the original project four members and Vodafone became more important (around 10-ish) they, as a British company, favoured British drivers, that's why they went for Button at the time, next to Hamilton.
