Proposed F1 2019 Miami Grand Prix

Not sure where to put this but I reckon this will do.
A number of times now I have run across people arguing against the idea of the U.S. having another F1 race.
SO I got to thinking,, the numbers vary depending on what you include but basically the U.S. is 3,797,000 square miles and Europe is 3,930,000 square miles. Europe has 10 races. At that rate the U.S. should have 9 or 10.
I'd settle for 3.

really there should be two feeder classes have a f2 championship in the americas europe and asia really push them and create pathways to f1 which only race on the best tracks from each region

I don't know mostly they're worried about how it's going to affect traffic and what construction is needed in order to build the track as proposed. Some parts will be easier than others to make, for instance in order for the track to go through Bayside and Bayfront Park will require digging up land and laying down race track, no way around it. Some places are too narrow and this alone takes a lot of planning and bureaucracy. The Port of Miami section won't be so easy to create either because the road as proposed does not exist, luckily that area is a lot more flexible with regards to what can be done but it's still a planning and bureaucratic nightmare. Miami is a very laid back big city, and the way the local government works reflects that, things get done properly, as long as the time schedule is flexible.

My guess is that for things to work out the way everyone intends is going to require a little more time than one year, and I'm ok with that frankly.

I can only imagine surface issues, if they decide to not resurface the circuit just for sakes of being a street course.

Shouldn't be an issue, most the downtown area where the proposed track sits is prestine roads, very smooth and well maintained. Im sure they'll cover up the train tracks and bumps on the bridge.

China and Canada are both in that size bracket too so 10 each for them. Russia is twice the size of any of them so 20 races there too.

That will be 60 races so far before we've even looked at South America and Africa. I reckon we could have a race every weekend of the year on a two year rolling basis. That should keep everyone happy.

Or we could just remember that F1 is a Europe-centred series.

Europe-centred does not mean Europe-only. F1 has races in many countries around the world but is based in Europe. These days, there is one race per country - there obviously having been two in Germany for a while (German GP and European GP).

It should also be noted that the US is one country, Europe is not. Europe gets 10 races but each race is in a different country. As I said, using the logic of # of races/country area, China and Canada would get 10 each and Russia 20.

I'd like to see a return to Africa before we start doubling up on races in an existing host country.

If we based on population Asia has 4.463 billion .. They would get 60 races...South America 1 billion - 13 races and Africa 1.2 billion - 16 races.
