I thought Vettel used DRS on the first lap, but watching the replays now he didn't. The white band across the Ferrari rear wing should we say, caused the "perception error".

And there's me tweeting that info to the skysports f1 team and mercedes amg f1. They all now think I'm nuts

Essentially...yea ... it's also totally everyone elses fault and not his own mistakes that cost him at least the equivalent of the points he is behind in the championship

He didn’t even blame him on radio. It was a racing incident. Neither of them really was more to blame. Vettel’s fault (again) was that he was not patient enough.

His own words in interview on SKY F1. So yes he was trying to blame Ricciardo.

Congrats to Kimi, he didn't put a foot wrong. His start was perfect, and although it didn't look like much at the time, his defense on very worn ultras against Hamilton was key. He not only held his position, but prevented Hamilton from gaping him; moreover, he backed Hamilton into the pack, which was crucial since it ended up putting cars between him and Hamilton, especially Verstappen.

Merc strategy on the other hand wasn't bad, despite the fact that some fans are bashing them over it. Where they failed to get a hint strategy wise was when Hamilton on much better tires couldn't get past Kimi in the first stint. They should've opted for track position, which was possible by pitting the next lap after Kimi. Worst case they'd have retained 2nd and not fallen behind Max, which would've given Hamilton 34 laps to chase and pressure Kimi into an error - not that it looked like he'd have made one today. Their second mistake was extending their 2nd stint too much and falling behind Max (rookie pitwall mistake), when they had a window of 10+ laps to pit and still come out ahead of him.

Well Vettel ran out wide in to the red bull. A small bit of oversteer and they hit. 80% Vettel , if not more. If Ric spun and Vet stayed on, Vet definitely gets a pen.

Am I the only one thinking that todays race was a bit of a lottery with the limited running in the dry. I dont think we can take this race for true performance as today was a compromise, especially with the mandatory tyre pressure change.

I think so, a lot of the set up would've been based on simulations and they wouldn't have changed much between FP3 and Qualifying.

There is no 5pts. Its 1pt 2pts 4pts 6pts.

So Lewis needs 7th in Mexico. But if Vettel wins the last 3 races, then Hamilton needs a total of 5pts. So a 10th and 2 × 9th places will do it

Hamilton has just confirmed it with comments like. ‘Those guys just wanted to win the race’, ‘It’s 100% risk for them. Where as for me, I wasn’t taking any risks’ and ‘just enjoyed it’.

He has and does see the bigger picture.
