Also a possible reason: twitter user @Vetteleclerc posted:
http://Motorsport.com have understood that Mercedes had to close hub and rim holes with silicone. A move that the FIA has demanded, but without making any public communication. #F1
(how does one post a tweet here by the way?)

So if that's true, then the articles earlier this week that said those wheel rims were perfectly legal were not quite the full truth, and in combination with Friday time loss, and that late pressure increase, they seem back to their situation earlier in the year with tyres. At least it would explain those somewhat obscure 'other things' Hamilton referred to as to why they didn't win it.
Interesting news. Was this the setup Toto meant they had found earlier? :) Explains their sudden jump in terms of race pace. Their tyres seemed to go forever lately.

Another interesting question would be why it took the FIA several races to ban those illegal rims.

No, that's not really very strange: they get asked by a team, they look at it, that takes a while, and sometimes things suddenly change, and we learn afterwards there might be something declared in need of modification. See also that June tea-tray clarification which we only heard about when HAAS took to long to silently fix theirs; or (from 2014 onwards several times amended) oil-usage, and suspension (already from 2012-13), and the Ferrari extra oil tank last year or before that, Red Bull 'deciding' to back to a less flexy wing, to keep it to examples from this decade. It's the usual FIA MO.

A wise man will carefully calculate the chances of him being beaten to a bloody pulp before punching someone in the face.
The Red Bull driver’s outfit which was missing the matching cowboy’s hat is regarded as Texas cute over that side of the pound.
Was not only happy for Kimi Riakkonen winning the race but also impressed having actually see him smile, also impressed with the respect shown to the General who presented him with his trophy by removing his cap, how many F1 drivers in this era have done military service? To see him in uniform “Kimi Riakkonen during his army days” m.imgur.com. But it doesn’t show him hiding in a ditch when drunk to avoid military police looking for him.
Erm ... Lewis is a black belt.
He out to start punching others in the face than provided he have his black belt on.
Right. Let's back away from this running joke before people take it too serious  .

You peeps really need to start to put two and two together  . Her bio mentions italian translation. Poster says the source was motorsport.com. A quick search on the italian motorsport.com yields this:
https://it.motorsport.com/f1/news/caso- ... o/3200232/

I have to say that only the italian motorsport.com is reporting this (at this moment of writing). I'm putting doubts on the credibility until confirmation from more sources (including the global motorsport.com)

What do you think, being a reasonable person?

Since there isn't an article out on it, we'll have to wait and see. Could be as reliable as the 2nd sensor on Ferrari thing, or could be more. But if it is true, that's relevant to discussion on why Merc was back to having tyre trouble, which is why I posted it this morning in the discussion.

lol ok
No other source, the article in itself is just speculations....the only way we can confirm is by checking pictures of the GP or confirm at next race

Vettel drove some exceptional races back then. Why does this need to be ignored now? The problem now is that he seems to be too motivated to win in his dream team and the motivation even increases every season. He just needs to put his head down. Maybe a mental coach would not be bad.
But to doubt his driving skills and even go to such lengths to tell that he even might not be good enough to drive in a top team is utterly.. utterly ridiculous.
Don't take it so hard. If Hamilton wasn't racing, Vettel would be walking away with this championship. The last German champion quit the sport because of the stress racing Hamilton in equal machinery.

There was only one footage from the heli at the start, but don't you guys think it was a bit harsh the penalty to Sainz? He already passed the HAAS and he gave the position to the Force India…
And i think the stweards should look at all the corners if a car leaves the track. Or don't look at any.

Did a little compilation of the S-Curves (Turn3-8) Onboard from 2012-2018.

In 2018, for the first time since 2012, top cars could take turn 3-5 flat in quali. Bottas chickened a little bit, having to lift through turn 5.

Thanks to Juzh for the 2018 pole telemetry.

Same here, if you give back the position I don´t understand why you have to be penalized. Stewards-esque consistency. #-o

Another race Vettel could have won.

Well done to Kimi though. He could have won 3 races this year (Austria and Monza being the others). Glad to see he gets at least 1 before he leaves the team.
Indeed, after some mediocre races Ferrari was back in form. Did the new floor change the situation? Mercedes was half a second faster in the last races and yesterday Ferrari looked very strong. Its difficult to understand these changes.

Vettel´s pace was great, its a pity that he ruined his chances on Friday, and then again on Sunday.
They didn't use new floor (for rest of the stuff I don't know). I read that they reverted to Belgium spec and abandoned Singapore update (RW). They will re-evaluate them all in Mexico (because of rain on Friday)
Thanks!

Vettel has mentioned that they have been too slow realizing that the updates were not working.
