I agree, it's the same license manager ArcGis uses. Just to say that it has two versions even today, last week I installed ArcGis 9.3 with a hardware key. You can install the "networked version" without a hardware key, or the stand-alone version, that uses the hardware key. Both versions need a license file (that's what it's cracked when you hack the program).

I'm positive about the fact that for flexlm to work you have to check two things:

- The TEMP variable cannot be empty
- Other environment variables cannot be empty

I quote what I wrote last week for an installation manual for flexlm (for ArcGis, I repeat). Note: I'm translating from spanish, so some items might have slightly different names:

If you get a message of "Internal error, Install aborted” o "Corrupt Install" when you start installation.
Check that Windows TEMP variable points to an existing folder. You have to have access to that folder and you need to check if you have free disk space.

If you get an error message when you click on "Next" in the last installation dialog box.
Check that all system variables have a valid value. To check that, go to Start > Control Panel > System and choose the Advanced Options tab. Then, click on "Environment Variables".

If you get an error message with the text "customcalla" during installation.
You need to log in as an user with Administrator privileges.
