Would have been a nice color for the actual paint job
Like the old vodafone chrome, but orange/copper. It would look good.

Lets play guess the part.
It's probably near the rear bulkhead...
I guess he's putting gold leaf on one of the monocoques lower edges, left hand side... near the battery bay... or near the radiator location, not far from that engine attachement point

In this case, the photo of 2019, and not gold leaf. Gold is applied with brushes.

In Grand Prix driver they had rolls of gold leaf that they applied to the car

This does not change the method of its application. Its thickness is several microns.

Im not sure about that. I know this application method from the food industry but I guess that doesn’t apply here. There is more to it than only putting on a reflective layer. I think It has to resist a few things / elements. It seems like their gold reflective tape is combined with a sticky layer / carrier layer underneath and a protection layer on the top.

Gold leaf isn't always applied with brushes, and as you can see, he is using either a rubber or a foam pad to do it.
If it was the mylar backed insulating type then it wouldn't be applied as a booket leaf as seen in the picture, it'd be on a roll or full size sheet as the gold layer is deposited on the surface of the film, not hammered out.

It's on tape, the guy in the video moulds it into place with his hands it looks like

The curvature and finish of the carbon structure don't look like the bulkhead.
I think we may in fact be seeing the livery, or at least the launch livery.
It fits with the aesthetic they started with the Senna GTR launch car, a vinyl wrap with a chrome-like finish. Which echoes the old Mcl Mercedes liveries, but the copper fits the whole orange as a nod to Bruce McLaren era cars they've been doing the past few seasons.

Better question: is that the MCL33 or 34 in that video excerpt?
and are there any closer pictures of that gearbox? looks amazingly tight.

dynamic balance
static imbalance

The video is from 2017 or 18 so it's an older car and the bulkhead looks to be designed for the 2016 or 2015 Honda.
But intake looks closer to the 2015 car to me.
Yeah the bottom part of the gbox looks very short. The gear cluster, the shaft and differencial must be placed high in the casing
