If the drivers would ditch all the shading and gradient graphics and just would go for solid colours, I think it would look better on camera... from a bit of distance they all turn in some blobish shade of red/yellow/blue

what the hell, it's gonna be insanely hard to distuinguish which driver is which from the helmet.
well, Max will be ahead anyway so not gonna be that hard in the end.

why won't the fia make some sort of rule that helmets can't look too much alike, especially in the same team?

it was just as annoying when hamilton and rosberg both had a yellow helmet.

I think the T camera is all we need, but if thats not enough, The red and yellow stickers like Ferrari and Williams used to do was good. Failing that, let the teams put different colour Halo's on the cars.

The red/yellow is a mandated sticker AFAIK, red for #1 drivers and yellow the #2.
They did away with the red one for 2013 onwards I think (though it wouldve been great if they kept it)

I meant the red yellow of the 90's With stickers on the front and rear wings. And williams had colour on the front wing mounts .

It's not just the FIA or FOM, the teams could do a bit more, like Mercedes is doing with the red and blue numbers. Guess most of them aren't that bothered...

but yeah, we had this discussion a few times on this forum "oh I can't make out the drivers anymore" "bloody HALO/graphics/sponsors/etc" "they should do something with colours" "oh yes... that yellow T-cam, yeah.. well... I normally don't look at that :P" etc etc

I only look at the t cam, it really helps. In a blink of an eye you know what you are looking at. Especially since the halo in normal race overview shots it is hard to see the driver at all.

on a related note, it seems quite quiet on the Hamilton helmet front. Wasnt he soliciting fan designs again for his lid this year?

Helmet Kvyat preview

Looks like his half a year at Ferrari made him a Schuberth user. Thought RedBull drivers had to use Arai lids :P
Well it's remarkable that almost every Red Bull driver wears Arai, but Hartley had used Bell during his time with Toro Rosso.

Let's see whether Albon will stick to Bell this season.

I didn't found a good picture of Kvyat in a Ferrari (he tested in Fiorano), but he wore a Schuberth helmet at the Abu Dhabi test when he drove the Toro Rosso
